The Legacy Music Hour #81: Secret of Mana

Secret of Mana is the focus of Episode 81.  Brent and Rob have focused on genres, composers, and franchises, but never before have they focused on a single game.  Composed by Hiroki Kikuta, this is one of the best video game soundtracks of all time, at least, that’s what Brent thinks.  Rob likes it a lot too, but not as much as Lightning Force.  Anyway, though we’ve heard a lot of the best tracks from Secret of Mana on previous episodes, the music in this episode is really, really good as well.  And if you haven’t played this game before, get it and play it, because it’s also one of the best video games of all time.  Full track listing below.

Finally got around to listening to this episode today! Great music in there, though I was a little bummed that “The Little Sprite” didn’t make the cut.

Good lord, you’d think I’d know by know that it’s “desert” not “dessert” *facepalm*
(the track was secret of the arid sands, btw)

  3. Liz says:

That track that you were saying sounded dessert-y? I think it sounds a little more jungle-y o.O

  4. D Smith says:

Hmm… Brent, did you send this epsiode’s link to Kumail Nanjiani? I think he would… appreciate it.

  5. Mr Awesome says:

Monarch on the Shore always makes me think of the medal ceremony at the end of Star Wars.

  6. amysrevenge says:

I played the shit out of this game in 1993, on a black and white TV. Took our system to a neighbour’s place to see the final scene in colour.
