The Indoor Kids #41: The Kids Are Back in Town

Kumail and Emily have been traveling like crazy, both together and separately, so this episode was recorded with the Indoor Kids at home discussing all the video game news that’s fit to print. They also talk the games they’ve been playing while they were separated (Emily- Journey and Skullgirls, Kumail- Uncharted: Golden Abyss). Then, at the end, Kumail kinda freaks out from sleep deprivation.

  • Are you guys going with Hostful on your “Guestless” episodes? I’ll just change the file name later. hmm, proposed names? I haven’t listened yet btw…

Main Quest – Extended Side Quests
    Bagelcast with Bagel
Indoor + Incloset (You guys can go ultra meta with ur title name :/ )
Peering from outside your house, the @ home Indoor Kids episode

    :) Hopefully this’ll be great!

  • Loved slap happy Kumail! He must sleep deprive for 36 hours before every episode. Really liked the Youtube version as well. I’d really enjoy watching you guys play some Gears together

  • I really, really wish I could come to one of the Chicago shows, but I’m getting married that weekend. Unfortunately, that’s kind of hard to re-schedule.

  • Would you consider the riddles in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City to be picture taking? Granted you don’t have to do them but I certainly enjoyed finding them the most out of The Riddler’s secrets.

  • Link’s Awakening DX and Majora’s Mask also feature photography, but I don’t think they’re that essential to the gameplay.

Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver feature a photography character that will take pictures of you in certain areas and for certain events, but it’s not essential to the gameplay at all and you can’t even keep every picture.

  • OK, I doubt anyone remembers this one, but there was a game on the Dreamcast called Headhunter (?) and you drove a bike all over the city in that one.

Also, and I could be tripping balls here, but didn’t you ride one in Shenmue as well?

  • Does anyone know where the infographic about the XBOX 360’s life can be found? I haven’t been able to track it down.

    Thanks!! Great guestless episode, guys!

  • Skullgirls is the brainchild of MikeZ, and right now…damn, that’s another game that makes me wish I had a system of the times.

Also, crazy coincidence, I’ve been meaning to see Cabin in the Woods, and recently I was playing “Last” in a friend’s car stereo, and thought “This could have been a single, Trent, just like the other songs…”…like 18 years too late, I know

PAX East was pretty awesome, btw, would have been great to have seen you guys there…I didn’t get to try Borderlands 2 because the line was insane. There was, no joke, a line to get onto the line. Making it to the Seattle one?

also fuck yeah i get $5

  • Awesome show guys. I always love hearing the podcast. You mentioned that the Wii U is just an add on for the Wii. It’s actually a new console, it’s just uses the same controllers and is capable playing the old games. It adds the new tablet controller and is capable of HD quality graphics.

  • i love the show, i am still catching up (on 33) but i think you should have a creativity themed show, which are the best games that allow you to create mods, or have spore llike editors, or customize, i think consoles have little big planet, pc has all the mods for skyrim, the pc has trackmainia where you can build your own race track and share it on-line, draw something is game where you have to be good at drawing, starcraft has its own mod system with a big community, i think games should allow gamers to contribute to the story and i hope future games have more editors so users can have more freedom to play the way they want to, shooting games make me crazy because in real life all guns have scopes and silencers and there is no gun editor to make your own gun (like mods for halo 1), if there was an artificial intelligence editor for skyrim we the players could make the npc’s have fear (like halo 1), thank you for posting all the great shows with great guests (love blair butler)

  • so yes most games are just entertainment, but if you really want to exercise your brain you can play games at where i pay to have my progress tracked, but i am not an employee and i am not getting a discount for sharing this info, i also hate the word games and like the math ones, but you really need to play games on pc, the xbox being so old is really bad for games, and i would love to hear more ideas on how to make games better instead of arguing about the definition of words (art, story, review), you people (i not sure what i mean by you people) are awesome, what kind of game could you have all five fingers touching the surface (like a tablet)? i want you guys to talk more about creativity
