The Indoor Kids #138: Rainy Days with Kumail and Emily

  1. Danny says:

This is the Doubleclicks’ song about EVE Online:

  2. Aaron says:

Oooooh, that rain was AWESOME. Days of some of the most aggressive rain I’ve ever encountered. I went outside for 20 seconds at one point and was soaked from head to toe. I miss it already. Please, God, more storms in SoCal! Please!! I’m only happy when it rains.

Fun episode, guys. I want to mention that I just started watching Portlandia and was surprised by the Kumail cameos. Good stuff!

  3. I am glad I am not the only one that got real emotional about Ramis passing. My wife got concerned, but I wrote out my feelings about it and I felt better.

  4. Frank says:

    Poisoned tree of souls.

  5. Ichabod Mansfield Asbury Trevor Wilhelm Achilles Tanenbaum says:

@Kumail Welp…you called it, man. Never underestimate the internet’s capacity to complain. Yar-hum-o-kullah.

  6. ln says:

love the show… but….if I have to hear Kumail sucking snot up his nose one more time I’m going to unsuscbribe!

  7. scott says:

Damn, I wish Skinny Puppy was playing somewhere near where I live. I’d love to see them, even though I haven’t heard anything of theirs after Last Rites.

  8. Jeul says:

You guys rock. I’ve listened since the first episode and you’re my current favorite podcast.

I understand why you do it, but I wish you didn’t have to do a disclaimer before you guys state an opinion. Stupid internet people. XD

You guys should do some more Oculus Rift stuff ( interviews with people, ‘on-air’ trials for the both of you, etc ). I have a dev kit and it’s amazing. You will love little demos. Don’t even worry about the Left 4 Dead stuff. Just do simple things like Blue Marble or Lunar Flight for starters. It’s the future, IMO. :)

Keep it up. I’ve enjoyed the ride so far and look forward to hearing more from you guys!

  9. Nich Hustler says:

Guys. I’m still listening to the intro. Stuff, I love you guys. “You’re the best around…”

  10. Taylor N says:

You guys said Rayman Origins when you meant Rayman Legends.

I thought the 8-bit levels were super original (like the rest of the game) but they were also super annoying cause they were pretty hard lol.

  11. SYdney Richardson says:

Great episode and a lovely tribute to Harold Ramis.

  12. Vincent S says:

Horses, Kumail, fantasy setting, Chris De Burgh, Quark Pfft, horse rape… this was the train of thought I had from the podcast’s picture.

  13. Noel says:

Great show again guys. It was so sweet that you guys got all teary over Harold Ramis. We watched Groundhog Day on the day of his death. That film really is one of the great comedies, considering now that groundhog day is in the vernacular.

  14. badabingo says:

Creosote – bad stuff that not only builds up in chimneys but was used on railroad ties and stuff as a preservative. It’s toxic, horrid yuck.

Kumail – saw you on the first Portlandia and it was great, so glad you will be on more this season!

  15. Cthun says:

It’s definitely ‘poison creosote’, the song is “Far From Any Road”, you can find the lyrics online. I think the creosote referred to in the song is a bush that grows in the desert. There is a lot of desert imagery – dusty mesa, boiling sun, rattlesnakes etc.

    Anyway, enjoyed the episode.

  16. Deez Nutz says:

I heard ‘Poison Creosote’. Go listen to Handsome Family, they are a great band.

  17. D says:

No shame in getting choked up over this Kumail. I’m not going to lie, the thought of Egon being gone made me tear up last week when I heard the news.

  18. Al says:

The header looks like someone photographed Emily right before she tosses Kumail off the horse.

  19. _____________________________ says:

You had to bring up poison brioche toast when I’m having vomiting and diarrhea. Thanks.

  20. Nixie Ai says:

I don’t want to be THAT PERSON, but…
Kowai doesn’t mean cute. Kawaii means cute in Japanese. Kowai means scary. Just thought I’d put that out there.

  21. Ghrantt says:

Sometimes I get sad when I know I don’t have another Indoorkids til next Monday . Favorite show . My Daughter (11) just finished Tombraider and started it back up again and told me that I need to get it for the ps4 so she can go for a third.

  22. Greg R says:

    Is it “Poison Creole Soul”?

  23. Amy says:

My son loves the 8-bit levels of Rayman :) (He is 8)

  24. Sol O. says:

Another great episode guys – the Harold Ramis tribute was lovely.

The words in that (amazing!) song for that (amazing!) show are “poison creosote”, creosote being a byproduct of burning wood or coal and quite dangerous if it builds up in your chimney. The More You Know…

  25. Alec says:

I didn’t notice the True Detective thing, but that’s probably because I kept on expecting it to have the lyrics from Short Change Hero.

  26. Er nevermind, went back and listened to him say that he left the game for awhile and wants to get back into it.

  27. I loved Ghostbusters as a kid, hat tip to Ramis. Was great in Stripes as well. Good episode, I like the hostful Indoor Kids, they’re rare but always entertaining (I still remember the Xmas hostful where you guys dissected the Hobbit themed Denny’s menu).

BTW I’m wondering if Kumail ever finished AC IV? I’ve gotten a little over halfway through it and eh… I don’t know, the cities are boring and pirating gets boring after awhile too. I think I figured out the game’s flaws and tendencies to quick for my own good and now I don’t care about the story anymore —- its actually gotten to a point where I think this may be my least favorite AC game.
