The GAME OF THRONES Rap Album is Everything You Want and More

Let’s be honest with ourselves: what’s the one thing that Game of Thrones is missing? If you said “thundering 808 bass and Khaleesi-inspired freestyle flows” then you’re correct! Westeros is about to get a hell of a lot doper when HBO releases a free 10-track Game of Thrones-inspired mixtape featuring songs from hip-hop artists like Common, Wale (who you may recall put out an incredible Seinfeld-sampling mixtape), Outkast’s Big Boi, Daddy Yankee and more. Sampling dialogue from the show over thumping club banger beats and original songs from hip-hop luminaries, the mixtape is set to drop on Soundcloud as early as tomorrow.

HBO multicultural marketing executive Lucinda Martinez told The Wall Street Journal that the album is intended to appeal to the show’s African-American and Latino audiences. “Our multicultural audiences are a very important part of our subscribers, and we don’t want to take them for granted,” said Martinez. Honestly, though, I don’t think it matters what color your skin is because the prospect of a ten track hip-hop aural odyssey through the Seven Kingdoms sounds incredible. Now we just need a GIF of Tyrion doing the stanky leg and my day will be complete.

Note: lyrics are slightly NSFW, so don’t bump it without your headphones.

Honestly, with lyrics like “Fuck the Lannisters and everybody ride with ’em/ Jon Snow and the Night’s Watch, finna slice some iron in ’em”, you can’t go wrong.

What do you think? Who would you like to hear perform a hip hop ode to Game of Thrones? Let us know in the comments below.

At least they didn’t make one, say of prog-metal and fantasy metal bands.

  2. jenn says:

HBO is getting into the nerdcore music scene, but would lose credibility if they actually said that. So, instead, they say they are marketing to African-Americans and Latinos. Got it.

Adam WarRock did one almost a year ago. Gotta give props.
