The month of March is bringing a few nerdy gifts to our doorstep—the Daredevil season two premiere, WonderCon, etc.—but none are as great as the upcoming Supergirl/The Flash crossover. That’s just a fact. And by fact, I mean my opinion. Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen will drop into National City and run into Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers on the March 28 episode of Supergirl. And since we’re racing towards the air date, CBS and DC have released a snazzy comic book cover style poster to mark the momentous occasion. Just look at these two precious jellybeans:
The poster design is an adaptation/homage of the cover of Superman #199, illustrated by Carmine Infantino and Murphy Anderson. The 1967 story pit Superman against The Flash in a charity race around the world. That’s not quite the plot for the Supergirl/Flash crossover, but I like the tip of the hat and the reminder that Supergirl also has super speed.
Now, about the plot! “Worlds Finest” will feature a team-up between Kara and Barry. Per CBS, “Kara gains a new ally when the lightning-fast superhero The Flash suddenly appears from an alternate universe and helps Kara battle Siobhan, a.k.a Silver Banshee, and Livewire in exchange for her help in finding a way to return him home.” I’m sure Barry would help regardless of whether there was anything in it for him, but I’m looking forward to seeing how he’ll get back to the right universe. I’m sure the DEO will have to step in.
Anyone want to take bets on how many people learn The Flash’s actual identity while he’s National City? I’m guessing all of them.
