Though I can’t claim to be Nostradamus, I’m predicting that there will be an inordinate number of people calling in sick to work on Friday, because once the clock strikes midnight on April 10, all thirteen episodes of Marvel’s hotly anticipated Daredevil are hitting Netflix. Having seen the first five episodes, I can assure you that it’s a welcome change of pace from what Marvel has done so far. Blending compelling characters, vibrant world-building, and some bone-crunchingly violent fight choreography, Daredevil is one of the best additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent memory.
As good as the series is, there is one major problem. When Daredevil is compared to characters like Iron Man and Captain America, few people really know who he really is — apart from the subject of a truly godawful 2003 film starring Ben Affleck. The real tragedy is that Daredevil is so much more than that, which is precisely where today’s show comes in.
Much like how I explained everything you need to know about Ultron in anticipation of the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, today I’m explaining everything you need to know about Daredevil, the Man Without Fear, before you watch the series. Sure, you could go in blind (pun intended), but in order to maximize your enjoyment of the excellent new series, you need to know a little bit of comics history and how it relates to what you’ll see on-screen. From Daredevil’s origins to his rise as a the hero of Hell’s Kitchen, this video will arm you with enough knowledge to answer any lingering questions you may have about one of the Marvel Universe’s greatest heroes.

That’s all for today’s show! Let me know what your favorite Daredevil stories are in the comments below or whisper it to me gently on Twitter (@osteoferocious).
