We’re very sad that Parks and Recreation is almost over, but we’re certainly delighted to have gotten six seasons (but no movie) in Pawnee, IN, with all of its best citizens, and a seventh on the way. But what exactly IS Parks and Recreation? How would one describe the show to a person who’s never seen it? How might they express all of its heart, warmth, zaniness, hilarity, and all-around fantasterasticness in a few sentences? What if they only had 30 seconds? What if the stars of the show had to do it? What if they were all weird? Oh, they are and they did? Perfect.
Each of the stars (Amy Poehler, Adam Scott, Nick Offerman, Aziz Ansari, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Jim O’Heir, and Retta) give exactly the kind of answer you’d expect them to give, and they’re all delightful. While Poehler actually attempts to be concise yet informative, the others all seem to just be the great goofsmiths we know them to be. Nick Offerman should always talk about bacon, Aziz Ansari should always talk about Xzibit, and Retta should always talk about anything because she’s a human gemstone.
While these don’t give a whole lot of actual information on what the show is, the responses remain true to the spirit of why we fell in love with it in the first place. Parks & Rec‘s final season premieres on NBC January 13th.
