This past week was simultaneously a bloodbath with all the network cancellations and a flurry of new orders, renewals, and more comedy goodness. While we have to say farewell to Community, we’ll be seeing Conan O’Brien at TBS for a few more years, The Simpsons and Family Guy will have a historic crossover episode, Nerdist’s own All-Star Celebrity Bowling is coming to TV, and so much more.

Enough of me getting you enticed and on to The Biggest Happenings in Comedy Right Now!

-Parks and Recreation‘s 7th season to be its last.


-NBC cancelled The Michael J. Fox Show, Community.

-Jane Krakowski reunites with Tina Fey in Fey’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt starring Ellie Kemper .

-Ken Jeong joins teen comedy The Duff from CBS Films.

-ABC renews Last Man Standing and orders Cristela, Fresh Off The Boat, SelfieManhattan Love Story, and Black-ish to series.

-NBC orders comedies A to ZMysteries of Laura, and Bad Judge to series.

-TBS cancelled Men At Work.

-The Simpsons and Family Guy will have a crossover episode later this year .

-NBC sets for Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special.

-UCB Comedy partners with Above Average and launches UCB Studios and UCB Digital.

-Marin Ireland joins HBO’s Girls.

-Comedy Central passes on The Chris Gethard Show.

-Anthony Mackie joins Seth Rogen/Joseph Gordon-Levitt Christmas comedy.

-TBS extends Conan O’Brien’s contract through 2018.

-British comedy Pride lures buyers at Cannes before its premiere.

-CBS passes on How I Met Your Dad starring Greta Gerwig.

-Life Partners starring Gillian Jacobs and Leighton Meester to open this year’s Outfest.

-Bob Odenkirk might just be taping a comedy album this week for AST Records at our very own Nerdmelt Showroom.


-IFC buys the North American rights to dramedy Kelly & Cal starring Juliette Lewis.

-Tenacious D is having their second Festival Supreme at Exposition Park and the LA Sports Arena near Downtown LA.

-Showtime is developing comedy centered on an aspiring Jewish comedian from Elisa Zuritsky, Julie Rottenberg, Richard Shepard, & Olé.

-FX cancels Legit and Chozen.


-Zoey Deutch to star in rom-com Cover Girl, to be directed by Gray Matters director Sue Kramer.

-Comedy Central launches in Spain.

-The Artist‘s Michel Hazanavicius to direct Will starring Zach Galifianakis.

-Andy Samberg hosting this season’s SNL finale.

-Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie rom-com project Sleeping With Other People to be financed by Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.

-AMC picks up our very own All-Star Celebrity Bowling to series.


-Jonathan Ames adapting Icelandic dramedy World’s End for Showtime.
