It is indeed a crucial time in our country, as we just found out that an elected official came up with the term “legitimate rape”. Las Vegas might as well put odds on Missouri Representative Todd Akin never being able to live that down. While we are all trying to wrap our heads around the fact that such a thing could and did happen without it being some kind of comedy sketch, watch this week’s 5 Most Intentionally Funny Videos, devoid of any such nouns and adjectives that need not be put next to each other.
2. In light of Don Cheadle’s recent Emmy nomination, The Hollywood Reporter asked his House of Lies co-star Ben Schwartz to give voters reasons why they should vote for Cheadle, which Schwartz took in a much different direction.
3. Last week, Joss Whedon posted a video calling for people to ban the indie comedy darling Sleepwalk With Me in fear of threatening The Avengers. Of course, Mike Birbiglia and Ira Glass, the writers and creators of the film, were not only going to respond, but have a detailed financial plan as to how to take down the billion dollar tentpole.
4. In a rare directorial role, The Sklar Brothers direct a music video for the band The Sheepdogs and their single The Way It Is in which kids get mercilessly beaten in a little league baseball game by a bunch of a drunk 30-year-olds.
5. Perhaps the only time this has ever happened, a man serenaded a woman via a theremin. Of course, this would only happen with a bunch of musical comedians involved (Mike Phirman, Riki Lindhome, and Eban Schletter).
Per usual, I’m taking submissions for the 5 MIFV. Same rules still apply.
