Oh no, Murphy… what have you gotten yourself into on The 100 now?!
After lying, cheating, stealing and killing his way through the past two and a half seasons on The CW’s hit post-apocalyptic drama, Murphy (Richard Harmon) has found his way into yet another hairy situation. After Clarke (Eliza Harmon) escaped Polis with the Flame/ALIE 2 to find the Nightblood left over from Lexa’s (Alycia Debnam-Carey) ascension, she left Murphy behind with the Ice Nation Nightblood Ontari (Rhiannon Fish). Seeing as how Ontari had just murdered and decapitated all the other Nightblood initiates, intending to steal the Flame for herself and win the title of Commander illegally… that’s not exactly a place a Skaikru member wants to be.
But Murphy is Murphy, and he’ll do whatever it takes to survive… even if that means allying himself with the lethal, brutal, vicious Ice Nation warrior who’s pretending to be Commander, even though she doesn’t have the Flame or a Flamekeeper to help her ascend. Basically, everything’s a mess in Polis, but Ontari doesn’t care as long as she gets to be the new Commander. The girl has dreams!
Nerdist has your exclusive first look at tonight’s all-new episode of The 100, “Fallen,” and it seems that in the time since Clarke made off with the Flame, things have gotten tenser in Polis. Ontari is keeping Murphy in chains in her room, which the Ice Nation prince Roan (Zach McGowan) clearly hasn’t allowed Ontari to leave in case someone realizes she’s lying about having the Commander’s Flame.
But in this exclusive clip, her time pretending to be the Commander might be running out. When an ambassador comes to Polis, asking Ontari why she hasn’t begun the Speaking of the Names, a.k.a. reciting the lineage of all the past Commanders (something she can’t do without the knowledge the Flame would give her), her ascension is quickly called into question. The absence of Titus (Neil Sandilands) raises even more red flags. While Ontari may be quick to use violence to solve her problems, Murphy teaches her that lying your way out of a problem is more efficient than killing. He becomes her ally, lying for her to help her keep her Commander title.
It’s crazy to watch the meeting of the minds between Ontari and Murphy, since both are cunning, quick, and manipulative. While Ontari may have power over Murphy right now, intellectually it looks like they’re on the same level—Murphy may even be above her in that regard. So who will come out on top in their power struggle? My money’s on Murphy, because that dude is a survivor. Either way, this new alliance does not mean anything good for literally anyone, in or out of Polis. The last thing anyone needs is someone helping Ontari keep her position as Commander.

What do you think of this new unholy alliance? Is Murphy making a mistake by helping the enemy, or is he just doing what he needs to save his own life? Are you as surprised as I am that Murphy keeps finding ways out of certain death? Tweet me your thoughts at @SydneyBucksbaum!
