Tennant Quemments

It’s me! Chris Hardwick! I’m currently in London on the ever-beloved David Tennant Interview Eve. Tomorrow we’ll be chatting it up but I know that so many of you who may not be planning to sit down with him soon might still have questions! Or comments! Or QUEMMENTS. See? He’s so awesome his name RHYMES with quemment!

Anyhows, there’s a thread here. Post your quemments! I’ll pluck some out of the word garden and offer them to the Scottish Mr. T like a fanciful bouquet. I can’t guarantee I’ll ask all of them. In fact, I’m going to go ahead and NOT guarantee that.

Do you know the doctors name??
    O

  3. Doctor says:

Do you know the doctors name???????

  4. Ashmeera says:

    Mr Tennant,
Shortly after the BBC released the video of yourself and the rest of the cast and crew of Doctor Who dancing to Iā€™m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers, a lovely individual by the name of Kyle (http://cloysterbell.tumblr.com/) created a similar styled fan-version of the video. It would mean the world to her, and the rest of the people involved, if you would check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAz-3MS-8M4. Thank you

  5. Kimberly says:

Besides the Doctor, who was your childhood hero?

  6. Kimberly says:

Besides the Doctor, who was your childhood hero?

  7. Jacob Rohrbach says:

What was auditioning for Doctor Who like?

  8. Robin says:

Being the child of a Doctor and a daughter of a Doctor, is your little girl’s room filled with testaments to her Gallifreyan origins? If not, I believe there are at least 10 people who listen to this podcast who would be happy to make a TARDIS themed onesie…

And I <3 you! You are my doctor!

  9. Nathan G says:

What was your favorite Episode of Doctor Who to act in?

  10. John Seever says:

Mr. Tennant, congrats on becoming engaged.

In the episode The Stolen Earth/Journey’s End where Donna leaves the TARDIS, there was a copy of the 10th Doctor left with Rose. Have you thought of talking with Moffett on possibly returning for an episode or two with the current Doctor as the half-human, half Time Lord character?

  11. darren says:

Any chance of David going back and working with Big Finish again? He was great in the Unit series and excellent as Luther Arkwright and it would be FANTASTIC if he could do some 10th doctor stories with BF.

  12. Kurt Rocourt says:

    Two part question:
Looking back at your episodes with yourself and John Simm (the Master), I think you played both of your roles very well.
Do you think Mr. Simm should return as the Master? Or should someone else play the role so Matt Smith could have his own counterpart to work with his strengths as Mr. Simm did with yours?

Which other Time Lords besides the Master would you have liked the Tenth Doctor to interact with had a story permitted?

Thank You for your work in the Who universe.

  13. scully says:

Has the popularity of the 10th Doctor’s shoe choice dimished your current appreciation for Converse? Do you have a favorite pair of chucks you are currently rockin’?

I will accept an answer that is not white hightop šŸ˜‰

Sorry I couldn’t think of a non Doctor Who question…I guess I’m kind of a nerd.

  14. Caroline says:

    What are you reading?
    What books would you recommend?
Is there a particular genre you are partial to?

  15. A Rexacoricofallapatorian says:

After so many decades, why do you think that Doctor Who has suddenly become a phenomenon in the states?

  16. Digi12 says:

You should check out this blog.

  17. Paul Zukauskas says:

    Hi David!
    My quemment is this:
Would say Merry Christmas to my wife, Rebecca? We’re huge fans of yours through Who and Hamlet, and it would be the best present ever if you could wish her a Merry Christmas!
    Thanks, sir!

  18. Robin Burks says:

Ask him why I still don’t have a signed program from one of his plays! I’ve traveled to the UK from the US twice to see him in a show and have stood in pouring rain both times after the play to get a program signed and still don’t have one. I did, however, manage to bring back walking pneumonia the first time. šŸ˜› And that happened to be the night he quit Doctor Who. But I’m not bitter, nooooooo.

But the truth is, I made my first and third international trip because of him, so I guess I shouldn’t complain, right?

Jeffery Gates – It wasn’t just the film version Tennant and Stewart worked together. They also did Hamlet together in both Stratford-Upon-Avon (where I saw it) and London, too.

  19. Joseph Vandermark says:

Whose decision was it to wear running shoes as the Doctor?

Having worked in both Shakespeare and Doctor Who, how do you respond to people who feel that science fiction and fantasy aren’t real literature?

  20. Ryan Cleveland says:

    Mars or Cadbury?

  21. Dan says:

Why are you so man pretty?

    Sincerely, your straight male fanbase.

  22. Hello Mr. Tennant!

In the beginning of your acting career, who were some of your biggest acting influences? I know that you had the chance to work with Sir Patrick Stewart in your film version of Hamlet (witch is totally awesome, btw!). Both you and Stewart are huge influences on my acting career. I just want to know what it was like to work with such an influential actor as Stewart. I know that someday you will be regarded in the same light, and I can only hope for the chance to work with you someday.

    Sincerely,

    Jeffrey Gates

  23. Leah says:

I’ll try to make it short and simple, how can we get more of you here in America?

  24. Sophie says:

Do you have any good luck charms/ special rituals you go through before opening night of a new production?

  25. Charles Kelso says:

I just wanted to thank you for years of great TV. When I was younger I would always watch Doctor Who with my dad and brother and I loved the show even when sometimes I couldn’t keep track of what was going on and have really fond memories of all of it. Now I’m watching back through all of your seasons as the doctor and they are even better today. So thanks!

  26. Alisa in Portland says:

I recently viewed the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Hamlet on DVD and was riveted and fell in love with Shakespeare again (It’s been ages so thanks). Your performance gave me goose bumps. What have been your favorite theatrical roles and what performances ( theatrical or otherwise) have blown you away or inspired you?
Also, you’re quite funny in Doctor Who. Have you thought about performing more comedic roles?

  27. Andres says:

Are you happy with your Doctor Who run? Do you wish it would have been longer/shorter?

  28. Fields says:

    Doctor who?

  29. Ben Lucier says:

I just kinda wanted to know about the process with Rex is Not Your Lawyer, what it was about and why the hell it wasnt picked up over here, i saw a like 2 minute clip and it looked like it had potential so im just wondering why it wasnt picked up

  30. Kim W. says:

You’ve always been very active on the London stage — are you considering someday making a debut in New York as well?*

    * I flew to London to see MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING and thoroughly enjoyed it; so I confess that one of the reasons I’m asking this question is I’m hoping to spare myself an international flight next time. **

** Incidentally – thanks for being so thoroughly gracious with all of your fans waiting outside the stage door. I’ve seen other VIPs at stage doors and seen how rushed they were signing programs, and was impressed to see you and Catherine Tate both taking time to engage with fans as best you could. I was also touched that you not only reacted to my quip about the show being “totally worth my red-eye flight from New York” but that you also asked how I was coping with jet lag!

  31. Holly says:

You should really check out davidtennantinplacesheshouldntbe.tumblr.com , and try to remain humble that you and Photoshop bring thousands of people so much joy.

  32. Gema says:

You felt when you were in uganda?

  33. After all you’ve accomplished in your career so far, is there anything you’ve discovered about yourself that still surprises you? Behaviors, reactions, feelings?

  34. solovaye says:

DT have you ever seen “walking dead” the AMC series? More importantly, have you ever seen Talking Dead? It is great drama and ghoulishly good fun! Last question: Can you find someone that can help make MAAN a region-free DVD so the world-wide fans can buy it and watch it, please!?! The petition has over 13K sigs and counting. Love you and all your work, TV, Film, Audio and guest appearances!! xx

  35. Luca says:

What position do you usually sleep in?

  36. Ryanne says:

Have you seen the 500 Miles Of Whovians video? A very very very awesome person made it and you should watch it to know how much we love you, and the show.

  37. Jessica says:

How do you define happiness, if at all?

Have you ever traveled to Maui?

What is the best smell in the world/universe?

  38. Morgan says:

    Mr Tennant,

  39. Jessica says:

Would you ever consider an appearance on Merlin? I believe many people would love to watch another storyline with you and Colin Morgan acting together again.

  40. Cassidy says:

    Mr. Tennant,
You’ve been branching out rather successfully since Who and I have loved everything I’ve seen you in since you left the series. My question is, what’s next for you and is there any chance of doing a Broadway show in your future?

  41. Fields says:

Any talk of a prequel to Harry Potter where we get to see what made you so evil?

  42. Kevin says:

What was it like starting out in acting, especially acting for the BBC? Also, how was it like to get the job of The Doctor?

  43. Whats your next big venture? Are you going to stick with Hollywood or are you going to go back to the more classical route of theater?

P.S. You’re my favorite Doctor, even down here in San Diego, CA!

  44. Claire says:

1st: What is the mindset that helped you get to where you are? :)
    2nd: How are you? ^_^

  45. Cher says:

First of all, you’re really handsome. <3
Second of all, you should check out this blog. C:

  46. Sarah says:

In addition to the Doctor, can you tell me who or what your favorite character is in a book, tv show, or film and why? I saw you in Much Ado About Nothing in London, and I loved everything about the production! When you came onstage in the golf cart playing Dixie and seeing you covered in paint were 2 delightful moments! And you were wonderful afterwards, signing so many autographs, you let me get my picture with you and wished me a safe flight home with the ash cloud. I hope you liked the Alfred Hitchcock book! Thank you so much!!
