Coincidentally, a corset’s job is to make things that are bigger on the inside look smaller on the outside.

  5. Alex in MD says:

    I like her box.

  6. Judy says:

Taryn, your memory for the recent series is capacious, but you’ve forgotten one small thing– Susan.
The very first Doctor had a granddaughter. This implies that he would have had children first. Therefore, he would have needed a spouse, or at least a lover.
While the older series told of the Pyrdonians’ children being raised by the state, it is never clear whether they are test tube babies or conceived naturally. However, the rebels living outside the citadel on Gallifrey certainly did everything the old fashioned way. Sure, Doctor Who was originally thought of as a childrens’ show, but the writers never assumed kids were stupid.

  7. Sarah says:

This takes themed roleplaying to a whole new level…. MUST HAVE

  8. Tommy says:

My timelords, ladies and gentlemen … this is clearly an attempt by a foxy strumpet to get into The Doctor’s policebox. A little more decorum by all concerned, please!

  9. Donna Cooke says:

Um…if y’all remember, this all started with his granddaughter. That has a certain implication some sort of intimate contact. And the 9th and 10th docs did state they were fathers at one time. (Ask Rose and Martha.) Ignoring the ancient, only-once noted statement that timelords were “grown” in test-tube fashion, I’m pretty sure he got his granddaughter Susan in the usual fashion. And it is implied he has\had a mother.

  10. Taryn says:

It’s never been explicitly stated that the Doctor has had “intimate relations”.

Eight kissed Grace. Nine kissed Rose. Ten kissed…practically everybody. Eleven kissed Amy, River, and Idris/the TARDIS.

Nine and Rose have a conversation about dancing where the Doctor states something along the lines of he’s 900 years old, it’s safe to assume he’s “danced” with the heavy implication being that they were talking about something else.

In another Moffat episode, The Girl in the Fireplace, it’s heavily implied that the Doctor “dances” with Reinette as well.

And I think 10 also threw out some comment at the beginning of Journey’s End about having been married to Queen Elizabeth the 1st and how she wasn’t the virgin queen anymore.

Why do I remember all this…

  11. Helen says:

Someone remind me, from the very first Doctor, has anyone a memory of even one of the incarnations having intimate relations?
I am choosing my words carefully so that any sensitive “nerds” will not take offense.

  12. Rory Pond says:

Is it just me, or does it appear that the TARDIS doors are designed to open?

    *snaps fingers hopefully*

Oh, that’s right: I’m not the Doctor.

  13. Pedak says:

    Dear Chris,

If you could get Sara Underwood to wear this, I would be eternally grateful.

  14. Jacob Baughman says:

All the nerds that a) looked up the original function of a corset, or b) knew the original function of a corset off the top or their head, and felt like they needed to explain said function, need to understand the fact that the caption under the picture was meant as a joke FIRST and as a reliable piece of information LAST.

  17. Patti says:

Kevin – perhaps you’re right, because corsets were around before the Renaissance, but go to any Ren Faire, and the corsets used in that time period…well, let’s just say some ladies have…spillage! LOL! *not me, of course*

  18. Sandra says:

Scribe, if you’re up to the job, want to make 2? 😛
I really really want this in my life.

  19. AmazonV says:

Hey all, this is my corset, it’s still in progress. If you want to see the updates as they come please visit – if you want one $890 US

  20. Kevin says:

Its a nice corsets. But to the ones commenting on corset the original job for corsets were to make bustier women seems smaller busted cause the beauty standard at the time was small hips waist and bust. Just like more “healtier” women were the standard during the renaissance art period. Now after mentioning that I prefer the current way to wear corsets trim the hips and waist but make “the girls” stand up proud 😉

  21. Dusti Lewars says:

..So when’s the Who-themed fashion show podcast? :)

  22. Certainly matches my suit… but I’ve got nowhere to wear it TO.

  23. Patti says:

Stance is correct. Some things that are bigger on the outside do look smaller with a corset (waist, hips), but others may look bigger (bosom) I own a bodice, so I know what I’m talking about. This would be very unique at a Ren Faire. I go to one in Holly, MI every year. I imagine the price tag for this will be astronomical once this is finished…looks terrific so far, though.

  24. Leviohsa says:

    me likey!

  25. Scribe says:

I seriously WANT THIS. I might have to copy *just a little bit* and make one.

  26. Laura says:

    this. is. awesome.

and i would totally wear it.

  27. Stance says:

I would LOVE to see any female fan of Dr. Who sport this and as popular as the show is, I don’t believe I’ll have to wait very long! :-)

Also, just to be clear Chris, while you are correct the corset’s job is to make things seems smaller on the outside, it also bolsters other parts to make them look even bigger and more pronounced. LOL! Just saying. :-)

  28. Doug says:

    @Gleaming Terrier: I… I would.

  29. Dammacx says:

Is it bigger on the inside?

  30. Gleaming Terrier says:

“Free for Use of the Public”? Not sure I’d want to take up that offer.

  31. Rosie Forest says:

‘Sexy’ should have worn this in The Doctors Wife.
