Thus far, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been supremely strong in its sophomore season. The best move the series made was stripping away every resource the team had at its disposal, thereby turning them into a true ragtag group of secret agents that have to rely only whatever they can collect on the side. That said, this week the show will be delving back into some of its more supernatural elements with “The Things We Bury”, an episode appearing to be all about the mysterious obelisk, or “Diviner” as some have come to call it. Now, thanks to the fine folks at ABC, you can get a first look at some images before it airs:
While it would be nice to see the show explore more of its big reveal from last week that the writing Coulson has been etching in his office wasn’t a 2D map but rather a 3D blueprint for a mysterious city, it’s nice to know the big MacGuffin of season two hasn’t been forgotten. We still know so little about the mysterious device that’s already taken the life of Lucy Lawless’ Isabelle Hartley (although, they have already teased of her return). With any luck, that will change at least a little bit in the upcoming episode that is, among other things, set to bring a fresh appearance by Hayley Atwell as one Peggy Carter.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on ABC.
