It was only last year that Sony announced that a Ratchet & Clank film–based off of the developer Insomniac Games’ most well known duo–was in the works and making its debut this year. With an ever-looming release date inching closer and closer, we are finally starting to get some tantalizing tidbits. Today, we got word on some of the fantastic actors that will be part of this video game adaptation, and fans should be excited.
Along with the original actors that gave a voice to our favorite lombax and friends, the likes of Sylvester Stallone, John Goodman, Paul Giamatti, and Rosario Dawson will be gracing the animated film with their lovely talent. That is an absolutely star-studded cast that’s got me ecstatic for what this film could be.
When this new adaptation was originally announced, along with a remake of the first video game in the franchise, I was more than just a bit skeptical. But to my elation, there is a lot of talent strapped to this project, so it doesn’t look like Sony is cutting any corners. It wasn’t too long ago that mascot platforers were synonymous with the PlayStation brand, whether Jak & Daxter, Sly Cooper, or Ratchet & Clank, they all found nice, cozy homes on the platform. That was so long ago, and will certainly make OG fans like myself feel old.
There should be more news about this film and the video game remake come E3, with solid release dates for both. It has been a while since we have seen a great platform title on PlayStation, so hopefully there is a resurgence of the genre soon. Rip us a new one in the comments section below and lest us know if you are excited for the film.
