Superjail! is back. Or, it will be in about a month, when the animated series returns to Adult Swim on June 15th. But in the meantime, we’ve got a new trailer to tide us all over, with plenty of teases for some of the mayhem we can expect in the fourth season.
Not only are we getting a little Sasquatch action this season, but it looks like Stingray is coming back. For those of you who didn’t catch the character in Season 2, he’s like Cobra Commander if Cobra Commander were even more pathetic and kept trying to scam a high-tech, inter-dimensional prison out from under the Warden (David Wain).
Speaking of the Warden, his gender-swapped counterpart The Mistress is back after beating a hasty retreat from Superjail last season (and ending a messy relationship with the scheming Stingray).
Actually, the show has been getting strange like that over the past two years – or stranger still for a show about a magic jail where half of the inmates die brutally by the end of any given episode: the series is starting to carrying over a few threads of continuity between seasons. Most of the episodes are still largely standalone (and brutally anarchic), but with the return of characters like The Mistress, series creator Cristy Karacas seems to be leaving some room for forward momentum of some minor storylines in the background and at the margins.
