STRANGER THINGS Cast Talks Season 2’s New Characters and ’80s Movies Homework

We were already looking forward to Stranger Things season two the way Eleven looks forward to an Eggo breakfast. But after Nerdist’s chat with the cast about the upcoming new season (and all the ’80s movies they watched to prep for the show), we’re bumping up our excitement levels to Demogorgon-looking-forward-to-a-human-breakfast levels.

Our very own Alicia Lutes recently sat down with Natalia Dyer, who plays Nancy Wheeler, and Joe Keery, who plays Nancy’s boyfriend Steve, as well as season two newcomer Dacre Montgomery, who is set to star as Billy, the show’s new human villain. While we obviously can’t wait to see Montgomery’s Jack Torrance-from-the-The Shining-inspired character, the cast’s excitement over Brett Gelman and the “new flavor” his character will bring to the show has us thinking this season could pull off the impossible and outdo the stellar first one.

The cast also talked to us about what kind of ’80s pop culture homework they got from the show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, to get ready for the new season. Any time your homework includes watching Nightmare on Elm Street, early Tom Cruise movies, and classic Jack Nicholson performances, you know you go to a pretty great school. Especially when ’80s icons Paul Reiser and Sean Astin are on hand to help you study. (That’s like taking a U.S. history test and having John Adams and Alexander Hamilton there to whisper answers in your ears.)

All episodes of Stranger Things season two will be available at Netflix on October 27th. What are you most excited about for the new season? Travel to the upside down in our comments section below and let us know.
