Want to fly through the friendly skies on the very first BB-8 jet? Dreams do come true if the force is strong with you. ANA, Japan’s largest airline, announced today via press release that the first of their BB-8 aircrafts will take its inaugural flight on March 27 to celebrate the success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The aircraft, the BB-8™ ANA JET (Boeing 777-300), will begin its international routes on that date after an unveiling ceremony at Osaka’s Itami Airport, where the BB-8 livery was applied.
The plane will make a one-off domestic flight as ANA22 from Itami to Haneda and then will leave the airport at 12:05am the next day as flight ANA106 to Los Angeles, beginning its international service. It will then fly routes including those linking Haneda, Narita and US – Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., and Houston.
The Star Wars experience won’t be limited to the outside of the plane, however. Inside you’ll get BB-8 paper cups, headrest covers and cabin attendants with BB-8 aprons, which you probably shouldn’t steal (But if you do, send one to us!). The earlier R2-D2-themed jet allowed you to watch all six previous Star Wars films in flight, something that has never happened before. No word on whether that will be the case this time around.
So, are you feeling lucky? The BB-8™ ANA JET SWEEPSTAKES is giving you the chance to win a pair of round-trip economy class tickets from Los Angeles to Tokyo for you and a friend. 50 other winners will receive special BB-8 ANA JET model planes. Enter for your chance to win right here. Better get on it soon, though. The deadline for the model plane prize is April 17, but the one for the actual flight is March 10 at 4pm PT.
