Warning: If for some reason you still haven’t seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens, there are massive spoilers in this post and accompanying video!
After nearly two months of release and over two billion at the global box office, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally getting the How It Should Have Ended treatment. In the latest episode of HISHE, several of The Force Awakens’ most popular scenes are skewered, and Lucasfilm’s new owners get a very funny visual callout when the two Death Stars are joined with Starkiller Base.
This was a particularly loaded installment of HISHE, with a callback to the Revenge of the Sith episode as Anakin Skywalker’s Force ghost (the Sebastian Shaw version) gets overly excited by the news that he’s a grandfather, much to chagrin of Yoda and Obi-Wan. There are even a few cameo appearances by some familiar faces from Lost, as Leia and the other
Rebels Resistance members complain about having to deal with a third Death Star.
The HISHE team appears to have particularly enjoyed ripping apart some of the smaller scenes, as Finn’s encounter with FN-2199 (a.k.a. TR-8R) doesn’t go so well when Finn’s former comrade goes full Raiders of the Lost Ark on him. Luke Skywalker also has a much bigger role in this episode than he did in the movie, as he appears just in time to save one of his friends. Luke also displays an unhealthy interest in Rae. And you have to admit, it’s kind of in character for Original Trilogy Luke!
There are even some post-credit scenes, as Poe and Finn do Star Wars riff on Step Brothers and Maz Katana finally gets her hands on Chewbacca.
