So This is What ZELDA Would Look Like in Unreal Engine 4

While we wait for Nintendo to offer up their own Wii U version of the next Zelda game, we have the fan community out there imagining what it will look like for us.

Enter Michael Eurek, who has recreated the Temple of Time from The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time in HD splendor. Eurek built the area from the ground up in Unreal Engine 4.

It’s definitely shiny, although I wonder if “hyperreal” really says The Legend of Zelda (and I say this as someone who loved the art style of The Wind Waker). It’s definitely a hard shift in the aesthetic, although my dream of dreams is to see a game in the style of longtime Zelda concept artist Katsuya Terada someday.

  11. Too bad thats just a render, and not an actual gameplay scene.
    If games were made like that, with no gameplay and just a camera moving through a static level, then every game would look like freaking Avatar or Pacific Rim.
    But thats not how they’re made.
    This is a TERRIBLE example of ‘potential’ in a video game.

    This was awesome! I would love a hyper realistic Zelda game; that would be so excellent. If they can go in the opposite direction toward those weird, hello-kittyesque baby drawings in Wind Waker I think it’s just as legitimate to go super real.

    I think this was done fantastically! Compared to how the original temple of time was made in 3D graphics it looks realistically similar to the game. In fact I agree that this is how i would most likely look if done in real life. For the games in example the Ocarina of Time, they were limited on how much detail they could use because of the system they were using. The future games were able to change the look to make it better but lets be honest here, the temple was never the same from game to game. But this accurately shows how a cathedral to the temple of time could look. It has etchings all over the columns and walls, tapestries on the ceilings, and stained glass windows too with open sun roofs as well. I might change the statues a little but they were a nice touch (they looked Egyptian to me). Good job!

    This was well done, but it should have had a First person avatar moving about and interacting with the environment. The last part should have had just the Hands of link or link like person grabbing the Master Sword, then fade to white.

    I’m sorry for those complaining, I would Love to see them make it better. This was very, very well done. It makes the game seem a lot more realistic, the fact that people do this, still keeps me amazed, I can’t come close, but I’ll enjoy playing it.

    I appreciate what he’s trying to do, but it really isn’t executed very well. Would enjoy seeing a better artist take this sort of a spin on a Zelda environment.
