Well, we got some bummer news today, Sleepyheads: Orlando Jones, who played Captain Frank Irving, is leaving the show. Variety is reporting that Jones, a fan favorite and reliable social media maven, left before season three began production. This news came on the heels of today’s announcement that Jones, his business partner Noam Dromi, and former head of global marketing for K/O Paper Products Jay Williams, have joined together to create a digital production company called Legion of Creatives.
The company announced its debut series, High School 51, at the 2015 NewFronts in New York City and they will be partnering with Machinima to bring the show to life. Jones will star and Legion of Creatives founder Williams will executive produce along with Sleepy Hollow co-creator Roberto Orci.
We here at Nerdist are major Sleepyheads and last season I hosted and co-produced the SleepyCast: The Official Sleepy Hollow Podcast. Jones was my first interview I ever did for our podcast and he was and is an absolute pleasure. His energy and passion are infectious which has helped to make him such an ally for fans. Losing him is incredibly unfortunate as season two ended with the central four characters–Abbie, Ichabod, Jenny and Frank–back together again, essentially opening up the series for a reboot of sorts. Sleepy Hollow also saw the departure of their showrunner Mark Goffman shortly after the season two finale aired.
What do you think, Sleepyheads? Will Sleepy Hollow be the same without Mr. BAMF? Will you tune in for season three when Sleepy Hollow returns? Tell us your thoughts in the comments!
