Sunny Day! Sweepin’ the clouds away, on my way to where the air is sweet! Sesame Street has always been the go-to place to learn about education, life lessons and most importantly, having fun. Now Sesame Street has entered the kitchen with a new cookbook, Sesame Street Let’s Cook!
This cookbook is full of kid-friendly recipes that encourage children to eat healthily. All the recipes are conceptualized by registered dietitian and family nutritionist Susan McQuillan. They’re are easy to follow and sure to satisfy picky eaters. Kids can learn skills like counting, matching, and it encourages them to help out in the kitchen.
The characters of Sesame Street lead you along the way to talk the ABCs of healthy foods, portion control, and kitchen safety. The recipes teach kids about creating healthy food so there are no gimmicks, just straight up good-for-you delicious meals.
The standout recipes definitely belong to Oscar the Grouch. Oscar’s Cream of Any-Old-Thing Leftover Soup looks like garbage and I mean that in the nicest, most Sesame Street way possible. His aptly titled Oscar’s Shrimp Fried Rice Mess looks tempting and really feels like Oscar would have made it himself.
What every Sesame Street fan wants is Cookie Monster’s cookie recipe, and it’s right there in the dessert section. Cookie Monster’s Favorite Molasses Crackle Cookies look scrumptious and are made with whole wheat flour and oat bran to encourage the thoughtfulness of including healthy ingredients.
This is a great book for cooking with young kids and helping them to make smart food choices. It’s filled with recipes that can be made together and added to your holiday table.
If you could cook with your favorite Sesame Street character who would it be? Let us know in the comments!
