A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Sesame Street parodied Star Wars, and we all lived happily ever after. In this video, Princess Parfaita is in terrible danger when she’s captured by the evil Galactic Empire. But she shouldn’t fear, her rescuers are a motley crew of good natured heroes who include Luke Piewalker, Flan Solo and Chewie the Cookie.
Sesame Street has been entertaining and educating kids for 45 years as of this week, and those of us who remember mornings spent in front of PBS continue to enjoy the fun videos that the Sesame Workshop regularly puts out. Whether our favorite puppets are singing with Janelle Monáe, getting out the news with John Oliver, or promising us spoofs of all the best entertainment on TV at Comic-Con, they are always bringing their A-game to the table.
We can’t decide which is better: A Chewbacca that Han literally wants to eat, or those cookie buns that Princess Parfaita is rocking. Then there are all the little touches that make a Sesame Street parody so special. Moisture vaporators have whisk attachments, drones are made out of hand mixers, and TIE fighters are constructed with graham crackers. And our favorite: A Milk-ennium Falcon made of graham crackers, marshmallows and, you guessed it, cookies. How did Flan Solo not devour his entire ship!?
At their hearts, all Sesame Street parodies have an important message for the children who see them, and Star S’Mores is no exception. Thanks Sesame Workshop for teaching us about self-control. While some of the internet may have been hoping for another lesson from Tom Hiddleston, we love the sweet humor of this one.
