So, this weekend in New York, Joel Hodgson was a guest on the Nerdist Podcast live at the Best Buy Theater on Broadway. You’ve heard Joel on the podcast before, so you can imagine that you should have been there for this one. And you should have. But rather than kicking yourself for missing the creator of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and all-around brilliant comic mind this time around, you might have a second chance if you happen to be in the right locations, so listen up.
Joel’s doing a one-man show, and it’s a PowerPoint (or Keynote, if you’re Mac-centric) presentation. Really. It’s called “How to Have a Job Like Mine,” and it’s perhaps the first PowerPoint deck that you’ll WANT to see. And when you go to see Joel, you’ll also get a “secret MST3K screening.” Yes, you definitely want to see this.
And you can, if you’re anywhere near one of the shows he’ll be performing in the next month or so. Here’s the list:
On October 19th at 9:30 pm Eastern, Joel will bring “How to Have a Job Like Mine,” including the MST3K screening, to the Colonial Theater in Phoenixville, PA, not too far from Philadelphia or a large portion of the mid-Atlantic states, right there past Valley Forge off Route 422, so no excuses. Get tickets by clicking here. Now.
Then, Joel will be returning to the Twin Cities for a performance of “How to Have a Job Like Mine,” plus the MST3K screening, at the Parkway Theater in South Minneapolis at 7 pm Central on November 3rd. Buy tickets by clicking here. Go, grab some dinner at Pepito’s next door, have a good time.
The next evening, November 4th, at 5:30 pm Central in Sioux Falls, SD, Joel will bring the PowerPoint and secret MST3K magic to the Icon Lounge as part of Cinema Falls’ Fall season. Click here to buy your tickets.
And, finally, as you know, Joel and some of his MST3K cohorts — Trace Beaulieu, J. Elvis Weinstein, Frank Conniff, and Mary Jo Pehl — are still riffing away as Cinematic Titanic, and they’ll be riffing on, at, and all over that Ted V. Mikels epic, The Doll Squad, at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO (near St. Louis) on November 17th at 7:30 pm Central. There’s more information available by clicking here and tickets are available by clicking here. Oh, look, a commercial:
So there you go, four chances to see Joel, all over the country. If you’re near any of them, you should be there.
