For over five years, Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick has hosted The Walking Dead‘s after-show, Talking Dead on AMC. And while Hardwick has yet to appear on the actual Walking Dead, his recent experience at Universal Studios Hollywood will have to whet our appetites for now.
For the annual Halloween Horror Nights, The Walking Dead returned to Universal Studios with a walkthrough attraction based on the first six seasons of the series. In a new video posted by Universal, Hardwick was filmed going through the attraction himself and offering a running commentary on what he saw.
It’s telling that even though the jump scares were expected, Hardwick still reacted when Walkers appeared out of the shadows and lunged at him. In his defense, this attraction looks scary as shit. Your minds may realize that the horror is only being simulated, but that doesn’t stop your body from having a fight-or-flight response.
The video isn’t a total spoiler of the entire Walking Dead attraction, presumably to save some surprises for fans who have yet to experience it themselves. But we do get a glimpse of the hospital where Rick Grimes awoke from his coma in the very first episode of the series, as well as the infamous prison. At the end, Hardwick jokes that there should be a Talking Dead walkthrough attraction at the end of this one, to fully capture the effect of AMC’s one-two punch on Sundays. That’s not a bad idea. Make it happen, Universal!
