It’s the end of the never-ending summer, the season, and the series, as we say farewell to Dipper and Mabel’s time at the Mystery Shack. Throughout the years, we’ve seen the Pines twins battle monsters and mayhem, but one thing always remains the same– Mabel’s incredible assortment of sweaters.
Why you’d need to bring that many sweaters on vacation and in the summer at that, is the real mystery behind Gravity Falls. To celebrate the show’s finale, here’s an edible tribute to the sweater from episode one that started it all, Mabel’s iconic pink shooting star sweater cookies. So long Gravity Falls, it’s been weird and I mean that in the best possible way.
Gravity Falls Mabel’s Sweater Cookies
– Sweater cookie cutter
– yellow icing
– purple icing
– green icing
– orange icing
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– pinch of salt
– 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
– 1 cup sugar
– 1 egg
– 1 teaspoon vanilla
– pink food gel dye
In a bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In the bowl of an electric mixer cream the butter and sugar.
Add the egg and vanilla to the butter mixture.
Add pink food gel dye and stir.
Slowly add the flour mixture until combined.
Mix on medium high until the dough pulls away from the bowl.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the fridge.
When you are ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350 degrees and prep baking sheets with silpats or parchment.
Roll out the dough to 3/8” thick. Flour the sweater cookie cutter* and cut out the shapes. Move the cookies to the prepped baking sheets and bake for 10 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
With #3 tips, pipe the star and rainbow onto the sweater cookie. Once the icing is set, the cookies are ready to serve.
