In the original cast photo from director David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film, Jim Parrack, Adam Beach, and Ike Barinholts were surprise additions to the cast whose roles were not previously announced. While Beach’s character has reportedly been confirmed as Slipknot, the identity of Parrack’s character was unknown. However, Parrack’s role may have finally been revealed.
Possible SPOILERS for Suicide Squad lie ahead! You’ve been warned!
Some sources claimed Parrack would be portraying Slade Wilson a.k.a. Deathstroke the Terminator. Last April, Jeff Sneider of Meet the Movie Press was the first to report that Parrack would instead play Jonny Frost, a henchman working for the Joker. Jonny Frost was introduced in The Joker graphic novel by writer Brian Azzarello and artist Lee Bermejo back in 2008.
Actress Corina Calderon has a minor role in Suicide Squad, but a recent post on her Instagram account seems to leave no doubt whom Parrack is playing: “All #HappyCamper on my way to set again, going earlier than my #CallTime just to be there and watch my boy Jim Parrack playing #JonnyFrost do his Thang #SuicideSquad.”
Calderon has since deleted the post, but it has already been widely disseminated.
Prior to Suicide Squad, Parrack’s best known role was Hoyt Fortenberry on HBO’s True Blood. He has also starred in Battle: Los Angeles, Finishing the Game, and Wild Horses in addition to guest appearances on Supernatural, Criminal Minds, NCIS, CSI, and Alcatraz. More recently, Parrack had a recurring role on ABC’s Resurrection.
Suicide Squad will drop into theaters on August 5, 2016.
