With production currently underway on the still-untitled Bond 24, all espionage-loving eyes are quickly turning to the latest Sam Mendes-directed entry in the James Bond franchise. Little is known about the latest 007 adventure, but that hasn’t stopped many from trying to find out as much as they can. However, while no casting beyond one Daniel Craig has been made official, the folks at Latino-Review seemed to have stumbled on a rumor that gets us just all kinds of giddy for the upcoming blockbuster.
According to their report, the film is currently casting its main henchman, currently known as Hinx, and it seems they’ve found their man: Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista.
A recently leaked casting breakdown stated the role of Hinx needed to be “Ideally over 6’2″. Hinx is the main henchman/assassin. We are looking for an imposing, extremely physically fit actor. He has several fights with Bond and will have to have stunt training. He has to drive. We are looking for someone very unusual, possibly from a sports background. Height: 180cm – 195cm” Well, based on that, it would seem Bautista fits the bill rather perfectly.
Coming off Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the former wrestler appears to be taking his newfound acting career in stride, and much like the old-school career of Arnold Schwarzenegger, it would be interesting to watch Bautista go from playing a lead hero (as Schwarzenegger did with Conan) in Drax, to playing a major, imposing villain (as Schwarzenegger did with The Terminator) for one of the world’s most recognizable protagonists.
