The domestic poster for the first Star Wars spin-off film encountered a mixed response from fans of the franchise. And although these international posters for Rogue One smack of heavy Photoshopping, there’s an undeniable charm to their minimalism. (Even if the Death Star still looks much too big.) They also give Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso the chance to stand front and center, right where she belongs…

In other Rogue One news, the film has just lost its composer Alexandre Desplat, due to this summer’s reshoots. But it’s gained another composer in the form of Disney and Bad Robot favorite Michael Giacchino. Which I’m cool with, so long as the Star Wars movies don’t start sounding exactly like Bad Robot’s Star Trek movies.
Blumhouse strikes again! After this summer’s Conjuring sequel, the company is teasing the arrival of the next film in its ever-expanding supernatural horror franchise — Annabelle 2, a sequel to 2014’s hit killer doll pic. Lights Out director David F. Sandberg takes the helm of this May 19, 2017 opener, for which a new video announcement has just been released…
Finally today… In case you missed our story on it yesterday, you need to check out the teaser trailer for the sexy crime thriller Nocturnal Animals. With stars Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal, writer-director Tom Ford looks like he may have crafted a very satisfying twenty-first century film noir.
