Raise Your Goblet to Official GAME OF THRONES Wine

Cersei and Tyrion Lannister share little in common besides their last name. However, the siblings from Game of Thrones like to indulge in wine. A lot of wine. Like, they should each have a vineyard for their own personal supply amounts of wine. Given their affinity for the substance and the fact that we already have themed beer, it’s only fitting that HBO Global Licensing has teamed with California-based Vintage Wine Estates to produce official Game of Thrones wine.

Praise the gods, old and new.

Vintage Wine Estates is releasing three varieties: a Chardonnay, a proprietary red blend, and a reserve-style Cabernet Sauvignon. I’m guessing all of them will pair with your Westeros-themed feasts and/or pizza. Not that you need to pair your wine with anything at all to enjoy them.

The labels for the Game of Thrones wine bottles feature images from scenes on the astrolabe in the opening credits. Look:

You’ll have to put on your patient pants though because the Game of Thrones wines won’t be available until spring 2017. That means they’ll probably roll out at about the same time as the next season of the series. Once they’re released, you should be able to track the wine down around the United States for prices starting at $19.99. Just remember: if a questionable looking vendor tries to get you to sample this wine, don’t take a drink until you consult Ser Jorah.

Which varietal do you have your eyes on? Will you save it for the Game of Thrones season seven premiere or finale? Talk to me in the comments.
