For a child on the verge of adolescence, the world is full of possibility and potential. The trials and travails of adulthood have yet to crush youthful flights of fancy, and the imagination can still run wild. Yet that precipice is a treacherous one when the realities of growing up begin to set in, especially when one of those realities is whether or not to rob a bank. And that is precisely what Black Mask Studios new comic series 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank deals with.
Described as a “coming-of-age crime caper comic,” 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank follows 11-year-old Paige and her three best friends — Walter, Berger, and Stretch — who decided to rob a bank, which just so happens to be the same one that Paige’s father is planning on robbing. Written by Matthew Rosenberg (We Can Never Go Home) and illustrated by Tyler Boss (Vice), the five-part miniseries is a mash-up of Wes Anderson-style whimsy and Reservoir Dogs that you never knew you needed — until now. What starts with Paige and her pals playing a fantastical game of Dungeons & Dragons soon becomes something much larger and more intense than they ever could have imagined.
4 Kids Walk Into a Bank hits store shelves in April 2016, but you can take a sneak peek in our exclusive image gallery below.
