Presenting the Nerdist Channel Lineup, Live From WonderCon 2012

If you weren’t at the Nerdist Industries panel at Wondercon 2012 in Anaheim Friday afternoon, you missed a lot. You missed the unveiling of the lineup for the Nerdist Channel, you missed some of the stars of the new network talking about their shows and answering audience questions, and you missed this press conference, at which Chris Hardwick told a throng of reporters about the Nerdist Channel until one reporter just couldn’t take it anymore:

Yes, that reporter, he’s so pushy. And large, and oddly fuzzy.

The panel included Alison Haislip, Alex Albrecht, Justin Donaldson, Matt Mira, Chloe Dykstra, Emily Gordon, Kumail Nanjiani, Steve Agee, and Chris, and they talked about their own shows, and, for some reason, they talked about “Cheaters,” which is not on the Nerdist Channel. The attendees got an overview of what they can expect from the Nerdist Channel, including a look at the whole lineup.

Oh, right, the complete lineup. We haven’t given you the complete lineup. So, for the first time anywhere (outside the panel), here it is, our Nerdist Channel lineup:

At launch, you’ll see:

“Ain’t It Cool with Harry Knowles,” the TV version of the website you know and love-or-hate-or-both;

“Chris Hardwick’s All Star Bowling,” which… oh, you know what this will be. Chris will follow in his father’s Hall of Fame footsteps, in a manner of speaking, by bowling in a two-on-two faceoff at the All Star Arena, the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel’s Spare Room lounge, Team Nerdist vs. guest stars for charity;

“Comic Book Club Live,” the video version of the podcast from the Nerdist Network, with your hosts Justin Tyler, Pete LePage, and Alex Zalben;

“Cute Things Exploding,” which is self-explanatory;

“Face to Face with Weird Al Yankovic,” an interview show with hard-hitting journalist Weird Al Yankovic asking questions and getting answers;

“Kids in the Hall,” which YES PLEASE. Classic sketches with interviews and anecdotes from the legendary team, hosted by Chris himself;

“Puppet for President,” taking the Marvin E. Quasniki campaign to another level. See the Henson puppet’s speeches, interviews, and searing commentary on the toughest issues of the day;

And “Weird S#!t from Japan,” which is about weird shit from Japan.

There’ll also be some existing content available, including webisodes from the Jim Henson Company’s own “Farscape” and the ape detective show “S.U.D.S. (Simian Undercover Detective Squad).”

And that’s far from all. Coming soon:

“The Awkward Family Show,” a video show based on the Awkward Family Photos website, greeting card line at Target, and board game;

“Four Points with Alex Albrecht,” on which Alex is joined by three other panelists to comment on four weekly topics of the Nerdist genre;

“Gif Gif City,” animated gif characters placed in real-life situations;

“Gumball 3000 with The Dudesons,” with the Finnish crazies participating in the Gumball 3000 road rally accompanied by a Nerdist reporter who, it is hoped, has really good health insurance;

“Hero Complex with Geoff Boucher,” the video edition of the Los Angeles Times’ blog covering the world of the kind of entertainment you love;

“Just Cos,” with Matt Mira and Chloe Dykstra hitting the road to look at cosplayers at conventions across America;

“Justin Willman’s Magic Meltdown,” a magic show on the streets hosted by the guy who Will Ferrell called a witch and USA TODAY called “like a magician, but cooler”;

“Neil Patrick Harris’ Puppetopia,” which is… NPH with puppets. In his dreams. Perfect;

“Nerdterns,” a scripted comedy with the actual interns at Meltdown Comics in L.A.;

“Ralph Cirella Show,” with the host of “Geek Time” on Howard Stern’s Sirius XM Howard 101 channel;

“Star Talk with Neil deGrasse Tyson,” a video version of the radio show hosted by everyone’s favorite amazingly brilliant and funny and did I say amazing? Amazing guy;

“Tournament of Nerds” with Justin Donaldson, based on the hilarious competition that’s been delighting nerds at the UCB Theater in L.A.;

“Untitled Rob Zombie Project,” which is a mockumentary about a washed-up musician, written and directed by, obviously, Rob Zombie;

Plus existing episodes of “Nanna & Lil Puss Puss,” the animated series that ran on Comedy Central in 1995.

Now, that’s a lineup.

The Nerdist Channel begins for reals on April 2nd. Subscribe now and bookmark it. YES, WE’RE EXCITED. CAN YOU TELL?

  4. Farscape??? I love you! I’ve only been waiting forever for SciFi Channel to produce those after killing the legendary show. Most excellent.

  5. Jeff says:

    I don’t know if I can accurately translate my emotions into the English language, but I’ll give it a try.

    When I first saw this video, my first thought was “Oh, I get it. THIS is why the internet was invented.”

  6. chipmunk_tubetops says:

    You should have a crossover episode between All Star Bowling and Star Talk and call it “Take the Eggheads Bowling.”

  7. Ben Z says:

    I think I can cancel my cable subscription now. This youtube channel looks better than almost all of TV!

  8. rokuright says:

    Its going to be all kinds of wonderful, the “while” lineup. I’m so glad Im not the only one with spelling problems. Yay Nerdist!

  9. farleyk says:

    Sleeping, Shmeeping, what I really want to know is, didja ever *bowl* with Jenny McCarthy?

  10. Skigh says:

    When Al stares to the camera at the end, I LITERALLY could not look away until he did…
    How Weird is that?

    Gah! Make that April 2nd!! Also, loved seeing a puppet use the phrase “holy shitballs!” HAHA!

  15. Patti says:

    The line-up sounds great! I loved the video. Gosh, that large reporter was kinda pushy. 😉 Also, fuzzy and adorbs. Can’t wait until April 1st!

  16. Abbey says:

    My brain jizzed a bit.

  17. Johnny O. says:

  18. Robin says:

    Sweet. Frelling. Jeebus.

    I am already subscribed.

  19. Braden says:

    Seems ok, but I am a nerd for economics. MAKE SHOWS ABOUT THIS!

    Because I am a demanding internet dickbag.

  20. John says:

    This line up is great except for the addition of The Ralph Cirella Show.
    I’d rather see the Beaver with his own show.
    He is the only one asking the hard hitting questions at this press conference.

  21. erik2690 says:

    The way panels go maybe someone will be posting it anyhow, but I was really hoping to see full video of the panel because there was no way for me to be there. If anyone from Nerdist recorded it they should put it on the youtube channel. Im looking forward to all the programing coming up. If anyone finds video of the panel please let me know. Thanks

  22. trenton says:

    fantastic.

    also, my favorte thing is seeing slightly different double-posts :)

  23. Mike Perry says:

    This looks amazaballz! I’m not in for everything (nor would I expect everyone to be in for everything) but there’s at least 9 shows I’m HIGHLY interested in doing.

    Also, how does NPH have time for everything between HIMYM, Dr. Horrible 2, Broadway, and now this? It’s like he has a robot/alien clone!

  24. Mndrew says:

    So, Haislip was on the panel; which project is she attached to? Surely there will be some slippy presence on the Nerdist Channel.

  25. smartbunny says:

    Stellar!! It’s a total takeover.

    Can I host Smartbunny’s Roller Disco Party?

  26. shannon says:

    oh good grief. Somebody tell me how to delete comments, please!

  27. Shannon says:

    I was willing to obligingly accept “coming soon” as the timeframe for the additional programming until I saw
    Star Talk w/ Neil Degrasse Tyson. Yeah…”coming soon”?! WHEN?! How soon is soon?! Huh?! I gotta know!!

  28. Shannon says:

    I was content enough with the launch line-up to obligingly accept “coming soon” as the timeframe for the additional programming–then I saw Star Talk w/ Neil Degrasse Tyson. Yeah…”coming soon”?! 31. Mike Nam says:

    Y’know, some of those puppet shrieks at the end were actually bloodcurdling. DISTURBINGLY BLOODCURDLING.

  32. Sayla says:

    I can’t even TELL you how much I just died and went to Nerd Heaven. I’m so happy/excited/proud for everyone involved with Nerdist Industries right now.

  33. Ashley Lyne says:

    sooooooooooooo excited!

  34. Carl says:

    Love the intro video – that weird goat puppet rocks! There are several of those shows I KNOW I’m going to be checking out!

  35. Nat says:

    Holyshiiiiii…. absolutely rad lineup.

  36. StuartB says:

    Nerdist Kickstarter to bring back Farscape?

  37. gladly says:

    You know, ever since Matt Mira said how high Chris’ bowling score was during one Hostful, I’ve been so curious to see him bowl. All-Star Bowling sounds like a silly good time. The whole channel does. Congratulations on the line-up. Inspiring to see Nerdist Industries grow like this.

  38. me says:

    The AICN idea sounds DOA. Everyone knows the best thing about that site are the talk backs. In fact, I never read the reviews/news and just go straight to the TBs. And that just can’t be translated to video.

    Lots of cool stuff, though. Weird Al’s thing could be fun, reminds me a little of Space Ghost. And we always need more puppets.

  39. JnAStudios says:

    Good luck with the channel! Looks like a strong lineup!

  40. THIS IS GREAT! THE BEST SHOW EVER.

  41. Justin says:

    This is really fucking awesome.

  42. amigomontoya says:

    i went to the same school as the animator for Nanna and lil puss puss!!
