Harry Potter and his seven books worth of adventure have inspired oodles of fan art and fan fiction, but now we have a whole new thing to look forward to: Harry Potter inspired fan music! The talented dude behind 2000 Songs in 2000 Days is kickstarting a new EP of music inspired by everybody’s favorite boy wizard.
In case you don’t know Jonathan Mann and his awesome project, he’s been writing, recording and posting songs on YouTube every single day for more than 2000 days. It’s pretty impressive. They’re not all perfect, but that is part of the charm, and they’re all pretty entertaining. He writes about his nerdy interests (we hear video games are kind of a thing), the awesome things that happen in his every day life (his baby is freaking adorable) and various other sundries–especially Harry Potter. And now he is taking 5 songs that are essentially musical fan fiction about characters and topics that enshroud the world of the Harry Potter series and making them sound super professional.
He’s kickstarting this very cool new project so that he can add some real humans playing real instruments instead of synthesized music, and some professional mixing services so that the tracks sound great. His campaign is super up front of about the costs associated with these additions to his tracks, and he’s raising what equates to about four and a half galleons to get it done. Hey may have just hit his goal, but extra funding means that the quality of these recordings will elevate from good to straight up magical.
In return for this little bit of cash from your vault, he’s going to record some Harry Potter songs we are very interested in hearing. Who doesn’t want to feel all the emotions that a song about squibs will inevitably evoke? And come on! Love really is the most powerful magic, and we need a song in our lives about that! So go check out this awesome Kickstarter and consider visiting Gringotts so you can contribute. You can learn all about it here.
