Today’s secret word is…PIE! And now you can make Thanksgiving cheery and fun by adding Pee Wee Herman‘s face to your pumpkin pie.
Think of it as Snack Time on Pee Wee’s Playhouse, place a Pee Wee stencil over your baked pie then dust with cocoa powder to reveal Pee Wee’s face, then add large heart sprinkles to make his signature bow tie! I know you are, but what am pie. Pie? Scream real loud!!!
Pee Wee Herman Pumpkin Pie
-Pee Wee stencil (stencil by Hipstercrite)
-ready-made 9-inch pie shell (or, whatever your recipe of choice may be!)
-2 tablespoons cocoa powder plus 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, for dusting
-large heart sprinkles
-1 (15oz) can pumpkin
-1 (12oz) can evaporated milk
-1 cup sugar
-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
-1 teaspoon cinnamon
-1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
-1/4 teaspoon cloves
-pinch of salt
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Place the pie shell on a baking sheet.
In a bowl stir together the pumpkin, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Pour the mixture into the pie shell.
Bake for 15 minutes, then lower the temperature to 350 degrees. Bake for 35-40 minutes depending on your oven. Let cool on a wire rack for two hours.
When the pie is cool, cut out the template and place over the pie. Dust with cocoa powder and cinnamon mixture, and add the heart sprinkles to serve.
So there you have it: now the only thing to do is get mixed up with a pie like this. Are you planning to make this—or any other pop culture-themed pies—at Thanksgiving this year? Let us know in the comments below!
