According to Deadline, Edgar Wright’s Ant-Man movie for Marvel Studios has just added one last (well, we think last) major name to its cast: Patrick Wilson of The Conjuring, Insidious, and Watchmen will be joining an ensemble already featuring Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, Evangeline Lilly as (maybe?) Janet Van Dyne, and Michael Peña as, presumably, the villain. No mention is made of just what character he’ll be playing; some speculate that the third major character to go by the name Ant-Man, Eric O’ Grady, will also be in this movie, so he could be playing that role. But there have been rampant rumors that there will be flashbacks to Hank Pym’s adventures as a young Ant-Man in the 1960’s. If that’s the case, then Patrick Wilson would be the perfectly cast young Henry Pym, as he looks very much like most depictions of the character over the years. If that’s the case, Patrick Wilson would be one of the few actors to play superheroes in both the DC and Marvel pantheons, as he also played Nite-Owl in Zack Snyder’s Watchmen adaptation.
Ant-Man is Marvel’s first “Phase Three” movie, and is set to hit theaters July, 2015.
