Star Wars fans are always craving more collectibles. From costumes, to action figures, to LEGO sets, to high-end replicas, we’re continually on the lookout for quality items to display in our cases and on our shelves. And fans with Jabba-sized pockets now have the option to bring super fancy collectibles into their home courtesy of Star Wars Collectibles: Ultimate Studio Edition. The new collection features prop replicas made by propmakers in the Propshop at Pinewood Studios. Yes, the people who have made props for the movie are making them for you.
Given that, the replicas will be more or less identical to what’s seen on screen. They’re using digital scans and information along with 3D printing tech to craft precise copies. Not surprisingly, they’re kicking things off with props from The Force Awakens. Eight pieces will be available, including Darth Vader’s melted helmet, Rey’s (/Luke’s) lightsaber hilt, and FN-2187’s stormtrooper helmet. Based on the above video, we’re also getting Rey’s staff, Poe Dameron’s helmet, and Chewbacca’s bowcaster.
Each item will be made to order, so that means each one is limited. They don’t mention the edition size, but I’m guessing it’s in the hundreds, not thousands. The replicas come with custom display pedestals, and they’ll be packed in wooden crates custom built to fit the prop.
The prop replicas will be available in the United States first (yes, that is amusing considering where they’re being made), for order exclusively at the Star Wars Ultimate Studio Edition website.
