The Playlist reports that a rumored female Ocean’s film would have Bullock sliding into the George Clooney/Danny Ocean role. Clooney and Bullock are apparently close friends, having worked together on Gravity and her new film Our Brand is Crisis (Clooney is a producer on it), and the project arose partly from that preexisting relationship.
The idea was apparently first discussed last year between Clooney, Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh, and producer Jerry Weintraub (who passed away earlier this year). It looks like it will be directed by Gary Ross (the first Hunger Games movie), with a screenplay already in the works from Olivia Milch (Little Women), who may have turned in a draft of the film to producers.
Obviously this brings to mind the recently wrapped new Ghostbusters film, which stars an all-female cast as the ghost fighting protagonists. It is interesting to note that the new Ocean’s 11 would also have a male director in Ross just like the new Ghostbusters film is being directed by Paul Feig.
So let’s start fantasy casting this right now. I demand that just like Ghostbusters, Leslie Jones also be a part of this female led movie. I don’t even care what role, just cast her. Oh, and how about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler taking over the Scott Caan and Casey Affleck sibling roles? (Could make a great connection to their new film Sisters.) Okay, I need to go sketch this out. You tell us who would you cast and in what role in the comments below.
