Your day has arrived, Powers fans! The indie comic series (pictured above) that has long deserved a great-looking TV show is finally getting one. Today the lucky crowd at New York Comic-Con was the first to watch footage from the upcoming adaptation of writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Michael Avon Oeming’s award-winning superhero/police procedural comic book. Bendis and Oeming — executive producers on the TV show — introduced the clips. PlayStation’s “edgy new dramatic series” from Sony Pictures Television, also brought stars Susan Heyward, Noah Taylor, Eddie Izzard, Olesya Rulin, and Logan Browning to the convention. Here’s the official description… and the footage!
“Powers follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” As you’ll see in the first look trailer, Powers centers on Walker’s journey as a hero who lost his powers and struggles with losing what made him great.”
“Available this winter, PlayStation platform owners will be able to download/stream individual episodes of Powers. Members of PlayStation Plus, the premium gaming membership, will be able to view the entire POWERS series for free and obtain exclusive behind-the-scenes footage. Episode 1 of Powers will be made free for everyone, regardless if they own a PlayStation or not.
