No New GAME OF THRONES This Week: Watch a Preview for The Mountain and The Viper Instead

Listen: we know you are very upset. There is no new Game of Thrones this Sunday thanks to that American holiday known as Memorial Day (also HBO is premiering its latest film, The Normal Heart) and all of you out there in the rest of the world would like to have our collective head for it — no use denying: we’ve seen the YouTube comments. So how about we all — American or otherwise — tide ourselves over with this clip from the next new episode, “The Mountain and The Viper” and get excited for that instead, eh?

After last week’s truly epic speech from Oberyn Martell — offering up his services to be Tyrion Lannister’s champion in his trial by combat — to say there’s a lot at stake would be a goddamn understatement. The life and death of one of the series’ most beloved characters is at stake here, and everyone in the Realm, pretty much, wants to see him dead. Considering the champion of the crown, The Mountain, is a veritable beast of a human (if he even is one), things aren’t looking so good.

And that’s not even taking into consideration all the other crazy things that happened during “Mockingbird,” like — oh, you know — the Moon Door deathly descent of Lysa Arryn, or Jon Snow’s worries about the Wildings and the Wall, or the movements of our merry bands out on the road. See? There’s a lot at play in the forthcoming episode — not just the battle of Oberyn and The Mountain. Which means we should all definitely watch this clip and speculate on what might happen in the comments below and prepare our fantasy fantasy leagues accordingly.

So what say ye, citizens of Westeros? Will Tyrion and/or Oberyn make it out of this one alive? Is Sansa now in more trouble than ever? Let us hear your theories in the comments.

  1. Nirre says:

fking memorial day same thing with TWD last yearoh well guess I just have to wait

  2. I really hope the writers stray from the novel because what’s the point of watching if people who read the books continually ruin watching the show by posting endless spoilers.

  3. Clayton says:

Tyrion  with the help of Jamie sneaks out, kills his father who by the way will soil himself , and escapes. Jon will be named the Lord of the wall and once it seems like the war against the widlings is over, stannis will come in and take the wall. The season finale will then end with Carolyn stark being resurrected.

  4. Johnny G says:

I think Oberyn, the “viper”, will die in the fight with the mountain. before he does though, he will strike him with a poisoned blade and condemn him to die a very painful death

  5. Warr says:

Sure tyrion will make it out, he is smart and I don’t want him kill off, that would be wrong and sansa  is going to be ok, but you need to make her character a little smarter, she is growing up and has seen a lot of things.

  6. Winterstone says:

I can’t wait until _________  get his hands on _______ and ________.  Such a horror show
