When the going gets tough, the Winchesters throw down. They’ve faced all sorts of monsters and some rather terrible humans, but their biggest fight still lies ahead. A new trailer for the back half of season 11 of Supernatural reminds us that the brothers not only have the Darkness to deal with, but also the not-so-insignificant problem of wrangling Lucifer. Both entities are powerful beyond belief, so hopefully the Winchesters have a God-sized ace up their sleeves.
For all the hardship on the road ahead, Dean doesn’t seem particularly worried. His voiceover is reassuring, telling Sam and us that the Winchesers will keep grinding. They’ll have to, since the trailer shows not only Lucifer and the Darkness but also a very sad Dean, a frustrated Crowley, wrestlers, Billie the reaper, Santa Claus, and plenty of blood and bruises. And is that Rowena and Castiel getting close for a kiss? That’s one of the weirdest things I’ve ever seen in Supernatural.
Cas has a few weird things going on, actually. According to Dean, he needs saved. That may have to do with the message on Castiel’s chest that says, “I am coming.” I can’t imagine many people or beings would have the power to inflict that upon Castiel. My money’s on the Darkness or God. We’re overdue for some God action, right?
Supernatural returns to The CW on January 20 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. What are you most looking forward to seeing in the rest of season 11? Are you at all concerned about how they’ll handle lighter, sillier episodes with all that’s going on? Sound off in the comments.
