Hey folks, let it be known that there are spoilers ahead for Heroes Reborn. If you really don’t want to know the backstory of the new Heroes reboot and the fate of one of the main characters from the first TV series then you should stop reading now.
OK, the rest of you still with us? Then here we go.
Considering that Hayden Panettiere is currently starring on ABC’s Nashville, it wasn’t very likely that she would appear in NBC’s Heroes Reborn in anything more than a cameo. But that looks like it’s not going to be a problem, since the story of Heroes Reborn revolves in part around an attack that apparently led to the death of Panettiere’s character, Claire Bennet.
Fans of the original Heroes recall that Claire was an indestructible cheerleader whose healing abilities allowed her to survive all manner of fatal injuries—including the time that Sylar (Zachary Quinto) tore off the top of her skull to see how her powers worked. And in the very last episode of Heroes, Claire revealed her powers to the assembled media and simultaneously exposed the existence of everyone like her.
As the new trailer shows, somehow Claire’s regenerative powers didn’t revive her from her latest death, and now her adoptive father, Noah Bennet (Jack Coleman) has to pick up the pieces of his life while guiding a new generation in Heroes Reborn. The new cast members include Zachary Levi, Kiki Sukezane, Robbie Kay, Danika Yarosh, Judith Shekoni, Ryan Guzman, Henry Zebrowski, Gatlin Green, Dylan Bruce, Francesca Eastwood, and Nazneen Contractor. Also returning for Heroes Reborn are original series stars Masi Oka, Greg Grunberg, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jimmy Jean-Louis, and Cristine Rose. Heroes Reborn debuts this Thursday, September 24 on NBC.
