April, why must you be so far away? It’s like we are a Dothraki horde and you are all the way across some chronological Narrow Sea. It is downright cruel that we must spend the next four months of our lives (give or take) being taunted and trolled by HBO when it comes to the forthcoming season of Game of Thrones. I mean, shoot, it’s only December and already we’ve gotten a pretty aggressive pro-Jon Snow teaser image and now this? WE GET IT, WE KNOW NOTHING, AND WE ARE COMPLETELY AT YOUR MERCY.
Are you HAPPY, HBO?
While the new tease doesn’t give us any new footage, it does give us some new dialogue to ruminate upon. “We watch, we listen, we remember,” proclaims one ominous voice—that of the new Three-Eyed Raven (as played by Max von Sydow). “The past is already written … the ink is dry.”
“They have no idea what’s going to happen,” Bran Stark declares in response (after a bunch of brutal reminders of how much death and general horribleness the series has suffered already). Which, yeah, we know, BRAN. Thanks a lot, Bran! We get it BRAN, YOU CAN SEE INTO THE FUTURE AND THE PAST BECAUSE YOU’RE REAL SPECIAL, BRAN! Remember when Dan Casey had to explain to you what a burrito was? Because that’s a real thing he had to do at Comic-Con last year.
But you know who can’t see into the future? We can’t! Even though we know a good amount of what’s going to happen—through reading books, scouring message boards, etc., etc.—there’s still a huge amount of unknown to come this season. Could Jon Snow come back to life, or is he really dead? What if he’s next in line to become the new Night’s King? What about Lady Stoneheart? Dany and the Dothraki? Arya’s murderperson face-changer training? WE NEED ANSWERS.
We’re just not going to get them for awhile. HARUMPH.
But what do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
