In anticipation of tomorrow’s trailer debut, Legendary and Universal Pictures have released an eerie motion poster for Crimson Peak, the highly anticipated gothic romance from the beautifully twisted mind of Guillermo Del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth). The poster, which warns viewers to “Beware of Crimson Peak,” features the film’s gothic setting and a vibrant, ghostly image of star Mia Wasikowska. I don’t know about you, but it sends shivers up my spine.
The film features Wasikowska as Edith Cushing, a young American woman who is swept off her feet by the charming Sir Thomas Sharpe (Hiddleston), and lead to his childhood home atop a “mountain of blood-red clay” which is, according to the film’s official synopsis, “a place filled with secrets that will haunt her forever.” Edith must wade through the mystery, desire and darkness to uncover the mystery behind Crimson Peak. Familiar faces Charlie Hunnam and Jessica Chastain round out the rest of the cast.
Seeing as the first trailer referred to this as Del Toro’s “ultimate masterpiece” and the fact that he is tackling the age old haunted house story as opposed to the found footage flicks we’ve seen as of late, we couldn’t be more excited to see what he has up his sleeves. It definitely looks like it will be a refreshing change of pace for fans of the horror genre.
In addition to the animated film poster, the company also released several promotional images which we’ve placed in a gallery at the bottom of the page.
Crimson Peak is set to hit theaters and IMAX October 16th, 2015
