Nerdist TV Show TONIGHT!!!

Welp, tonight’s the night! Watch meself, Jonah Ray, Matt Mira, one-human-band Mike Phirman, Craig Ferguson and The Doctor himself, Matt Smith as we port the Nerdist Podcast over to the television platform. Chats! Music! Audience members in cosplay! A set inspired by 60s Bond villainry! This show truly was everything  I wanted it to be.

If folks watch it, we’ll get to make more. If not so many folks watch it, then I will be forever grateful that we even got to make this one. Thank you x a million to BBCA who have been STELLAR to work with. I had an absolute blast!!!

Nerdist TV Show @ 10/9c on BBC America after an all-new Doctor Who!!!

Mille grazie, Nerdi e Nerde!

  1. Patty says:

Hi, i just found the page and since I’m familiar with The Doctor, I wanted to see the episode. Is there available anywhere? BBCA won’t show me videos because I’m not an American I guess and I can’t find it in your site.

Anyways, I’m off to check The Nerdist some more

  2. Tom B says:

I didn’t like it, but not for the reasons you might think. I didn’t feel you guy had enough time. It seemed cramped. I did love what you did but it would be ten times better if you had an hour show instead.

  3. Olive says:

    Loved it!
I will now start watching Dr. Who; something I’ve been putting off b/c I’m already watching so many other shows, but your show has, um shall we say, inspired me.

Can’t wait to see more episodes! (Positive thinking!)

  4. Will P says:

Finally, I was able to see it and, although different from the podcast, it was just as great! I only wish BBCA would let you have a longer show!

  5. Jeremy W says:

Is it just me, or does Mike Phirman totally looks like a young Hugh Jackman?

  6. Heinrich says:

AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! I missed it and am unable to find it again on BBCA. Will it be airing again or was this a one time thing?

  7. Maya says:

Please please more! And please please longer! Who knew the A in BBC A stands for Adorrrrable…..

  8. Liz M says:

I have listened to your podcast for quite awhile and am a huge fan! I finally got to finish the TV show and wanted to give you some feedback as a Mom. I love listening to podcasts with my teenage son but know that some are not appropriate for him such as yours. That is perfectly fine because I do not think the podcast would be quite as entertaining if you had to censor yourselves. I watch Dr. Who with my son and was looking forward to sharing the Nerdist with him after the episode but was disappointed I had to turn it off halfway through since some of the subject matter was getting a bit uncomfortable for a mother to watch with her teenage son. I really hope your show gets picked up but if it will be on after Dr. Who and you want to keep that audience remember that there are families that watch Dr. Who that would really love to watch Nerdist also. If you are not trying to get that demographic I understand and will continue to DVR the show so I can watch it myself. Best of luck to you and thanks for all of the entertainment.

  9. noah says:

    I missed it!?!?!?!
I went on my DVR 3 weeks ago to try so set it to record – but it only schedules 2 weeks out…. then life happened and I didn’t think to check again until sunday night!!!! Now my DVR says there are no encore presentations scheduled? Everything on BBCAmerica plays 5-10 times a week!!!! Encore!!!! Encore!!!! How can i find it?

  10. Kait says:

I have literally watched it 3 times since it aired! Wish it was an hour just because I loved it soooo much. I listened to all of the nerdist podcasts in the past 3 weeks…and now I feel lost waiting for more to come out! I go to UCB every week so hopefully I will catch one of you there to fill the void :) I am going to try and start to make it to some meltdown shows too….If only I didn’t have to work so I could just go watch comedy shows! Anyways, brilliant show on BBC!

  11. Tzvi says:

holy crap. I would prefer you guys don’t stop doing this. It makes me smile so very much. And makes returning to the podcast much more enjoyable because your gesticulations (matt) are now in my head.

  12. Hector says:

I laughed quite a few times watching it but I felt like it was too edited down and would work better in long form (1 hour). And because it was so short, I felt like the “guy visiting the Doctor Who experience” piece and the song at the end were unnecessary distractions. But any part with the guys at the table talking, was brilliant.

  13. Spencer K says:

Echo that it should be an hour long.

I don’t think you need to only have one guest, but it was obvious that Matt Smith wasn’t really given his due time.

It’s definitely different than the podcast, though not better or worse.

BBC-A: you’re making the right choices lately (Top Gear at full UK length, really promoting Dr. Who), make this choice as well!

  14. Beaucifer says:

I loved the show. I’d like to see is unedited online or on itunes or somewhere.
Oh, you do need to the shoot the lighting guy, he was terrible.

  15. Dan says:

Great Show guys. Needs to be an hour.
    Craig Ferguson rocks.
Was the cute blond in the audience with big natural boobs that they kept cutting to, somebody’s girlfriend or “production value”?
Either way, great job. BBC make more!

  16. Danielle says:

    Well Done!

  17. mary says:

omifreakinggod you guys I just watched it and it was…there are no words, I fancied the pants off it. But, I agree, a half hour isn’t enough and I wanted more Matt Smith. Other than that I think it was pretty much perfect. If this turns into a thing (and I sincerely hope it does), I will totally pay for BBC America just to watch you guys. ¡Felicidades!

  18. Kedj says:

TOOOOO short! Made it feel rushed, or maybe it was the editing. :(
Other then that I enjoyed it, would have liked it more if it didn’t seem as though you were splitting it up so much. Was like a half hour (20-25 min) version of a 1hour (45-50 min) show. The various sections didn’t seem to play into each other very well either, felt sterile.
But…I would defiantly watch it again, and would most likely watch it regularly if it became a weekly/daily thing.

  19. JE Smith says:

Enjoyed the show very much, but agree with those who’ve said it needs to be longer — at 22 minutes, it seemed over-edited and there wasn’t much space for anything to breathe, a bit odd given that the podcast has such a wonderfully loose feel. Still, I hope it gets picked up, as it was a fun watch. :)

  20. tony says:

That was fantastic! Can’t wait for more shows! Well done Matt, Jonah, and Chris!!!

  21. Michael Scott says:

Watching the pilot for the second time and it’s even better that the first time. I was so nervous that I may be let down by the tv adaptation of my Prized Nerdist podcast that I couldn’t really relax on my initial viewing. Thank you for not changing the format.

  22. Chris Wormley says:

Loved the show! I am also feeling that it was short. It is probably because we are all used to hearing you guys joke around for at least an hour. Really hope BBCA picks it up!

  23. Rexline says:

First and Foremost great pilot. Love to see more from you nerdest fellas. Been listening to the podcast for many months now habitually and I’m always looking for more. My only criticism of the show would be how short it was. You have spoiled us with your hour long uninterrupted sessions of pure greatness, that it was hard to see it all condensed into 22+ minutes. Should definitely try to move to an hour long and just having one guest. Anything less just doesn’t do your current product any justice.

  24. Susan says:

Oh please, PLEASE do this again. Following the Dr is probably good choice demographically.

PLEASE don’t think you’re show would only interest a narrow band of consumers (we all know what influences the programmers).

If nothing else, it expanded your listener base by one more looney. Thanks for all the fish. Blessed be. sf

  25. Beth says:

We caught the first five minutes DVRed after Dr. Who. Hubby commented that maybe we have to DVR for a longer time now, so he liked it. I was laughing to hard to even comment that much.
Here’s to being picked up by BBCA!

  26. Daniel says:

The saw was awesome. I really hope it gets picked up.

  27. Michael says:

I thought it would be a hour long but still AWESOME show, I cant wait for an other episode.

  28. Ali says:

I think I broke my DVR pausing the show and trying to make note of all the words used in the title sequence. :-/

  29. MattG says:

The asshole in a triangle. Make it one hour and humanity will have achieved it’s creative pinnacle.

  30. candykane says:

Matt Mira is one hot bitch

  31. Christian says:

    Well done gentlemen.

  32. Sarah says:

Love, love, loved it! My only complaint………it was to short. Wanted more right away! Loved being able to see you guys goof off instead of just hearing you.

  33. Sarah says:

Love, love, loved it! My on,y complaint………it was to short. Wanted more right away! Loved being able to see you guys goof off instead of just hearing you.

  34. Aaron Stewart says:

I had never heard any of your podcasts. I finished watching the new episode of Doctor Who and heard Matt Smith would be on the show, so I decided to stick around while I got ready for bed. I consider myself quite a stickler for talk show comedy and I found myself laughing multiple times (just in the first three minutes, at which point I called my girlfriend into the room).

Hope to see more of your show.

  35. Joe Palen says:

    Bought it.
    Loved it.
    Reviewed it.
    Shared it.

    Thanks & Congratulations!

  36. Nick says:

    *voice like Brian Posehn*

    Fucking AWESOME!!

  37. Jess DP says:

It was definitely a different experience watching the show I listen to all the time but I really enjoyed it. It was like going to a live show in my house. I loved that you had Phirman as the resident one man band and of course your guests were superb. I wish it all the success in the world!!

    Congrats guys!

  38. Judy says:

The show was a complete delight! Craig and Matt were spectacular! You were awesome!

  39. anncoultersadamsapple says:

It was great. I can’t imagine the people at BBC not liking it. Hopefully they choose to make more.

  40. SlimCharles says:

I really don’t want to sound like an asshole, but I prefer the podcast. It probably has more to do with the fact that I much prefer podcast format, to talk show. On TV show, it all seems more rehearsed and planned . That is not to say that I disliked the show. It was funny and you guys are awesome as always, but as I said, this format is just not my cup of tea :)
I really hope BBCA decides to continue with the show, you guys deserved it.
