  1. Per says:

    ^ lol true :p

  2. RobC says:

Just like the Timothy Olyphant episode, this would have been a lot better is Chris could learn to STFU and let the guests talk!

  3. Ryan says:

Terrific episode…a tiny bit disappointed that there was no talk about Django Unchained but I did love the Oscar talk. You could tell Walton was really appreciative and thankful that it was brought up and he won, of course. Oh I loved how he randomly showed up in GI Joe 2 and pretty much stole the whole scene! Thanks Chris for a great one!

  4. SlimCharles says:

Great episode. Love Walton Goggins, he’s great as Boyd Crowder. One of the coolest actors in what is by far the best show on TV now, much better IMO than all those hyped up shows like Walking Dead or Breaking Bad.

Walton is really cool and interesting person to listen to, really enjoyed this episode.

  5. Parsons says:

Great podcast nerdist crew, Walton is on fire right now and his role as Shane in the Shield was amazing and he’s just got better. Justified is one of my favorite shows and think he would be awesome on Walking Dead, lets make it happen he’s from Georgia just makes sense.

  6. Phil says:

@Chris, I know what you mean about Headlines making your day. It was very similar to the Joe breakfast I think it was called. I always got there when it opened before it got too busy. I never went there during the day just to avoid the crowd. But yeah, it was like if I could just sell off a couple DVDs and CDs, I’d be stoked.

As for the Goggins, that’s one entertaining son of a bitch. He was in that Kate Beckinsale flick about the shooting in the diner. I probably would’ve asked him what it was like to be that close, but you’re probably too much a gentleman to ask. I’m not.

  7. Aaron says:

Goggins would make such a great Joker if/when they ever re-cast the character (or made any additional Batman movies… check out his look on Justified with his suitcoat. Not to mention his unpredictability, and the fact that he practically is Raylen’s Joker-like archnemesis…

  8. Teresa says:

No, no Shield spoilers. He does mention it a couple of times.

  9. Lance says:

I’m preferring the Matt and Jonah free real conversations

  10. Three toes of Fury says:

Im not sure i can listen to this one…ive still got some hard feelings about the death-of-Lem. He certainly did NOT enjoy the burrito shane brought him, along with a grenade.

Ha! just joshin ya….im actually looking forward to, as with The Shield, burning thru several seasons of Justified on dvd during caffeine-fueled marathon weekend.

    Peace .n. F@#$ing money train.

  11. Jake says:

You know, part of me was like “Man, can we just get a damned Hostful already?”… but then I smacked myself in the face for being a dick and started listening… and this was absolutely delightful! So natural and conversational. After listening to this for 3 damned years, you’d think I wouldn’t doubt you, Chris.

Must be reading too much AVClub…

  12. dizzylucy says:

Thank you so much for the Walton Goggins podcast. I’ve been a big fan of his for a long time now, I think he’s a brilliant actor, and also seems like a good, intelligent, down to earth guy.
For anyone curious about the films he and Ray have worked on, check out That Evening Sun, I think it’s still available to stream on Netflix and was a really beautiful little film.

Justified is such a fantastic show, I’d love to hear more podcasts with the cast – Margo Martindale would probably be a great one.

  13. toonsmyth says:

dag, I wish you hadn’t told me about that “borrowing happiness from the future” thing, because I have no self control and I’ll wind up borrowing too much so I can walk around being ECSTATIC all the time, and now I’ll be miserable for the rest of my life when it catches up to me. Thanks a lot. )8P

  14. Corinna says:

Thanks, Chris, for all you do. I have been enjoying your podcasts for a long time. You truly have a way with people and a beautiful spirit. I admire your ambition, intelligence and creativity. Keep it up and don’t let the nay-sayers get you down. There are plenty of people out here listening who love you and wouldn’t change a thing.

This podcast with Walton was terrific! I have loved him since Shanghai Noon…when he “lost his wingin’- it privileges”. He is a stand out in every way and so humble. You attract great people to you. Lucky man!

  15. Vincent S says:

Nerdcocky sounded so close to bukakke and I lol’ed in my gym. hehe. Nice podcast with an awesome guy in picture screens.

  16. Shaka Wilson says:

I love Justified. Walton Goggins is my favorite character on the show. I would like to see one small change. Why won’t Justified cast real Detroit types on the show? I am a 300lb black woman and their version of bad ass gangsters are funny. Get someone like me on the show. I can’t wait until next season. Shaka

  17. K-Foo says:

Great conversation, y’all. Hope to catch your stand-up in Atlanta very very soon, Chris!

  18. Patty Marvel says:

Walton Goggins is one of those actors who makes me say, “Hey, it’s that GUY from that THING!” He’s everywhere, but seems to keep a low profile – he certainly keeps himself out of the tabloids, which can’t be easy considering how many popular TV shows he’s been in.

BTW, “You’re still activating your biceps” sounds like a superpower. “Activate…BICEPS! Form of…a SUMO WRESTLER!!!’

And CH’s Owen Wilson impression brings to mind a super mellow Kermit the Frog.

    @Mescalineous – Well played.

  19. Mescalineous says:

Hm. On second thought I forsee the possibility of this getting wildly out of hand so I’ll just post it. Here ya go Eddy. Enjoy you burrito!

  20. Mescalineous says:

Eddy seemed the most disappointed that there wasn’t an episode so I’m gonna let him call the shot.

  21. Sultan of Swat says:

@Mescalineous I would love if you could throw up a link of that episode!

  22. Oscar Host Selection Committee says:

Chris Hardwick, your reluctance concerning ever hypothetically hosting the Oscars has now officially been noted. Don’t worry, we won’t be calling you, please stop bringing it up.

  23. Mescalineous says:

They actually posted a hostful on Monday, but I guess they thought better of it and took it down again after a few minutes. Probably because of the huge on-air argument between Chris and Matt. I managed to download it in the brief window in which it was up, though. I can post a link if you want.

  24. OJ says:

Are there any Justified spoilers, just started watching season 2!

  25. Another great episode! It had a really great conversational vibe as usual. I thought it was fantastic the way Walton was keeping track of closing the loops on the various conversation topics.

It was also great to see the tech that CH is carrying. I always love when CH sings so that was an extra delight.

  26. Kevin says:

    My favorite exchange.

“Where is your phone right now?”

“It’s right heeere!” Wait..where is it?”

  27. Mark Anderson says:

That was awesome. Love Goggins and Hardwick. Could listen to them talk for hours.

  28. CYD says:

I *just* started watching Justified S2 and I still can’t decide if Boyd Crowder is truly reformed or batshit insane.

  29. Ryan says:

Two minutes from the moment Walton started talking he was delightful! His work on the Shield AND Justified is the thing of legend.

  30. Eddy says:

I loved Nerdist’s April Fools Joke of not releasing an episode of the podcast. Hilarious.

  31. Halie says:

Sheild wasn’t spoiled for me. Great podcast, and I agree, this is one of those guests that I didn’t know that I liked.

  32. Bauer says:

There weren’t any Shield spoilers in this episode so enjoy this podcast and then go to Netflix and add the Shield, it’s an AWESOME series in the vain of Breaking Bad or the Sopranos.

  33. Sir_D says:

I know what I’m listening to at work tonight. Man, just some amazing guests at The Nerdist studios and now this too! Thanks for all the hard work guys and can’t wait to hear this episode… especially if it is anything like Olyphant’s episode, lol.

  34. Taylor M. says:

I love Walton. He has such a great passion for his craft and it really shows. Yet again you never fail to pleasantly surprise me with the guests, Chris. I always find myself looking at the latest episode and thinking, “I never knew I wanted this person on the podcast until now.” I guess what I’m saying is that I am extremely jealous of your job, Mr. Hardwick, but I’m thankful that you have it.

  35. MacHaven says:

The new intro music is real gangsta. Legal Zoom never sounded so hood.

  36. N says:

Will the wonderful Nerdist community be so good as to let me know if there is anything that might spoil The Shield in this podcast? I realize the show ended in 2008 and talking about it probably can’t be considered a spoiler anymore, but I’m just getting around to watching it and don’t want to ruin anything lol
