Enthusiasm in all its forms is attractive to people.
    –Vince Gilligan (15:40)

  2. susan says:

Vince~ You filmed Walt’s face to perfection as he lay in the desert dirt during Episode 514. His mouth looked like a gaping maw, a cave, a black abyss. For me, it epitomized what Walt has become–as far from an average, well-adjusted human being as you can get. Kudos to Brian’s acting and expression, too. What a show!

  3. Jesse_ehrmantraut says:

I asked the Gus Fring question on reddit and I swear to God I jizzed when it got that much of a reaction. Damn you for not saying my name lmao.

  4. Pete says:

It’s pretty rare to find a show that improves with every episode. Mr Gilligan has quite a resume already, but punctuating it with Breaking Bad… I can’t imagine where you go from there. Brilliant.

  5. Phil says:

Funny thing about HOME FRIES. It’s so not the movie that it was advertised. I avoided it back in the day because it looked like one of those cutesy rom-coms. Not that I don’t watch that shit once in a while, but this just didn’t resonate based on the trailer. One day, I caught it on cable and thought I’d have it on while I listening to some music, but it starts with a military training exercise where some dude gets killed and turns into a dark comedy about two dudes trying to cover it up. The trailer had you believe that it was some cute Drew Barrymore flick about being a soon-to-be single mom. So not the case. Something went from from the finished film to the trailer.

Sorry. But this is the best I can do about finding a trailer.

  6. Scott says:

I was listening to another podcast (a live one) where the host was interrupting Mr. Gilligan with his own stories about working on some show called Free Your Apathy or something. I was TRULY looking forward to hearing Mr. Gilligan speak.

    Here is my chance.

  7. Erin says:

This might be my favorite episode you guys have ever done!! Vince truly sounds like the nicest guy and I love hearing his opinions and how devoted he is to sending this show off with pride. I am super pumped for the new episodes to come but so sad its coming to an end. Never have I loved a show this much throughout the entire series! It really is a masterpiece and will go down as one of the greatest shows of all time! I feel pretty lucky to be able to experience it while it airs.
    Great job boys!
PS: Jonah NAILED that prediction for this season!! (High Five!!)

  8. Three toes of Fuy says:

welll Vince and his amazing writers have done it again! Last nights premier of the last 8 episodes was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo freaking good. The last scene of the episode is so incredibly well written….especially Cranston’s delivery of the final line…..he starts out stamering (Walter White) but delivers the final 2 words distinctly as Heisenberg. This is gonna be a great roller coaster ride to the end.

    Peace .n. Mr Chips—–>Scarface

  9. Nicholas says:

    Gosh dang genius 😀

  10. gary says:

I liked this interview, even though I’m late to the game on Breaking Bad. Vince Gilligan seems to be a a nice guy and I’d love to see what his next project will be.

This next comment is for Chris. I remember in one of the nerdist podcasts, you mentioning that you were working a joke where “Robots = Racism” and I wanted to mention that Alan Moore does a great bit on that in Top 10 where Superheroes are a bit racist towards robot/androids. They call them “Clickers” and there are great “Superheroes in the Negro League” and “Vision” parodies in Top 10’s 49ers and the original Top Ten series that might help you with that joke.

Again, great show and I can’t wait till Monday’s podcast.

  11. Great interview. BB fans should come check out our Character and Episode Grades for all your favorite Breaking Bad stars.

  12. Anthony says:

Vince Gilligan and Breaking Bad are amazing. If the Saul Goodman show goes ahead I hope it has the occasional Mike cameo.

  13. Pedak says:

I really like the creators/showrunners who have no problem talking about the whole of their shows. Vince Gilligan (similarly Ronald D. Moore) will tell you anything about plot points or character motivations if asked*. Great conversation!

(*Provided the episodes have aired of course)

  14. Yle says:

@Mychipsareahoy I totally agree, he sounds so damn friendly. How does this nice man write such terrible terrible things to happen in his show? Love it.

  15. Dean K says:

From Michael C. Hall to this, really great guests lately. Awesome episode.

My body is ready for Sunday.

  16. LJ says:

@Mychipsareahoy, yes! But Bing a picture of him. So confusing.

    I can’t wait for Sunday!

  17. Three Toes of Fury says:

PS: “I met a traveller from an antique land….”

for those who havent seen it yet, check out this AMAZING teaser for the remaiining episodes. Its Bryan Cranston reading the famous and incredibly fitting poem “Ozymandias”.

  18. Mychipsareahoy says:

Am I the only one that thinks Gilligan has a sweet friendly grandpa voice?

  19. Three Toes of Fury says:

. this was an incredible interview. Breaking Bad is, in my opinion, the absolute greatest TV show of all time. ive listened to pretty much any interview Vince has done and this one blows them all away. Thanks team nerdist for helping we uber-fans learn more about the stuff we dig and the creative forces behind it all. Sunday cant come soon enough. Best of luck Chris with Talking Bad…have a blast with it!!

Peace & What if they made walts character a little wishy washy and gave him a higher position at the high school….then he would be….ahem…..Heisenberg Uncertainty Principal. thank you! than you! try the quiche!
