Wes says: May 30, 2012 at 8:49 am Matt – sounds like they jailbroke your iPad. Check to see if Cydia is installed. And I’d restore it… just to be safe. SeanJ says: May 23, 2012 at 12:46 pm Hey they read my Quemment! I guess I wrote it wrong though, what I meant was Jonah AND another person listen to music and talk about it. Let me put it in math terms: Jonah + Other + Music + Recording = Great Podcast Could even have the best songs tacked on at the end and talk about new music that came out that week. Keep up the great hostfuls! hostfuls > non-hostfuls Arioth says: May 23, 2012 at 7:08 am @Melissa C and Mimi according to Joss Whedon Doyle was always supposed to have only a partial season arc. He didn’t get fired for drug use. He discusses it on the 1st season DVD commentary. On another note, love the podcast. Hostfuls are my favorite. Thanks, guys for all your hard work! Toni says: May 21, 2012 at 1:33 pm Also insanely expensive and never released on DVD… Sidekicks with Jonathan Brandis and Chuck Norris. Kristina says: May 20, 2012 at 11:49 pm A pretty good book on the history of zombies is Zombies: The Complete Guide to the World of the Living Dead by Zachary Graves (not sure if it’s his real name). He talks about voodoo and the literary undead. It kinda peters out at the end when he glosses over popular zombie movies and video games, but it was still pretty informative. Josh says: May 20, 2012 at 8:03 pm Give us this day, our daily troll. May the great Nerd in the Sky bless and keep trolls far, far away from us, so that Chris Hardwick, et al, can know how unquestioningly their vast, vast network of nerds appreciate and enjoy the levels of insanity to which they subject themselves for our free nerdly enjoyment. Yea that one day, and may that day not toil, Chris Hardwick, et al, will know that he too can join in these comment threads in nonsensical riffing, with nary a troll to respond! heh heh… “nary”… rhymes with, “hairy”… CT J donaghy says: May 20, 2012 at 4:34 pm This is my first time checking the site but have been listening to the podcast, along with others mostly indoor kids. I really like Chris posted here and wanted to say I enjoy your show very much and think its just gotten better. It is funny hearing old discussions and knowing where we are today. I have no criticism, the show is awesome and I wish you guys a lot of success. How has nobody mentioned moose vagina? I do wish you questioned Kevin smith being real sketchy with that carolla business. Not the tone of the show I know but just if he had regrets and how he thought he came off bc I look at the guy differently now. QuasarSniffer says: May 20, 2012 at 3:10 pm Random: If there was one thing this (great) episode needed more of, it’s adoration of the movie ‘Demons.’ I had a loveboner heart attack at the mention of seeing it at a theatrical screening. It basically has everything one could want in a low-budget Euro-trash horror movie: zombies (the ‘Demons’ in the title I guess?), katanas, motorcycles, rock n’roll, gore, gore, and then some gore. It’s even competent enough so you’re not overly distracted by mistakes/bullshit that might otherwise interfere with your enjoyment of the movie. Chris Hardwick says: May 20, 2012 at 11:28 am @Fantas: the funny part is, hostfuls were always shorter. In the beginning, I was afraid that no one would listen to them so they erred on the side of brevity. Some were in the :40s, I believe. Gradually they drifted into the hour range, but a :52 minute hostful podcast is neither out of the ordinary nor cause to throw up your hands and paint “the end is nigh” on your chest. As far as all three of us not being on every show, that’s always happened when I recorded podcasts in other cities. We’ll be fine, don’t worry. This podcast means the world to me so I have no intention of letting it wither away. As far as downloads & hits, to be honest with you I hadn’t checked our numbers in two months until a couple of days ago. I’d be lying if I were to say it didn’t have some importance, but I make time to do the show every week because I love doing it. I simply couldn’t put as much work into it consistently if I didn’t. And that’s that story! Doctor Quemmento says: May 20, 2012 at 11:15 am @Fantas! I wonder if you and I are listening to the same podcast, kiddo. If you think that Matt, Jonah, or Chris are producing the Nerdist podcast for the express purpose of producing page hits and downloads then that tells me exactly where you’re coming from. They clearly do it because it’s fun, and thank the podcasting gods when awesome things come of it. And I have yet to hear a podcast from which the quality is detracted because one or more of the members of the team were unable to make it to the recording. I can cite examples if you’d like. Lastly, if the fact that this week’s hostful “wasn’t even an hour” bothered you, cast your recollection back to when hostful podcasts didn’t even exist; that is when the Nerdist team only released one podcast a week (as most successful podcasts still do). It shouldn’t be too difficult because it wasn’t that long ago. When considered from that perspective the podcast actually has a net increase of roughly two hours per week of new content for you to criticize, not the decrease of five minutes that you were so eloquently bitching about. *steps back into the woodwork* Fantas! says: May 20, 2012 at 8:15 am @Quemmento. It’s 2012. Page hits and downloads are currency, as Hardwick knows perfectly well. The more thinly spread this crew is, the less the resulting quality. Cute that you come out of the woodwork just for me, I must say. I’m charmed. Mimi says: May 19, 2012 at 10:05 pm I feel so weirded out right now that you guys mentioned Mark from Roseanne. I haven’t watched Roseanne in probably like 10 years but for the last 2 weeks I’ve randomly started watching episodes of Roseanne on youtube. Forgot how great the show really was and literally googled Mark from Roseanne a few days ago and found out in real life he died of a drug overdose. Never even realized he was the same guy who played Doyle on Angel until I googled him. Apparently he was fired due to his drug use. He was great as Doyle he may have later become a star or at least more successful. Anyhow, that’s what happened to him. Can’t believe he was mentioned at all in a random two weeks when I’ve started watching Roseanne again. Josh says: May 19, 2012 at 9:59 pm I ain’t ‘fraid of no trolls! Doctor Quemmento says: May 19, 2012 at 9:27 pm Don’t cross the streams, Ray. 🙂 Josh says: May 19, 2012 at 4:51 pm Stringfellow Hawkescreech, of course, was the main character of “Saved by the Airwolf”, a situational comedy about six awkward teenage hi-tech super-fast attack copters. Kaylee says: May 19, 2012 at 4:49 pm Oh my god guys, the comments are making me wanna watch Angel </3 I miss Glenn Quinn Josh says: May 19, 2012 at 3:32 pm Hey, what do you get when you cross Jan-Michael Vincent with Dustin Diamond? Stringfellow Hawkescreech Booyah! Oh, and by the way, I personally won’t be happy with this podcast until every moment of every second of your lives are recorded for nerdist. Call it, “Nerdist Lifecast”. So, you know, in case you’re wondering whether or not I’M happy with this product. I’m not. There you have it. Nice shootin’ Venkman! Peter Thomas says: May 19, 2012 at 2:55 pm Im enjoying the ‘new matt’ Since his new podcast he has really come out of his shell, and is not afraid to talk Doctor Quemmento says: May 19, 2012 at 2:54 pm *s/he’s Doctor Quemmento says: May 19, 2012 at 2:53 pm Hey, you heard Fantas! guys. The quality of the product he/she is getting for free is declining and he’s a bit disconcerted. Dance monkies, dance! Sarah Winchester says: May 19, 2012 at 8:14 am First- Thanks for reading my quemments! I nearly ran my car off the road when I heard it. Second- @Kass: Thanks for the suggestions for podcasts. I will check those out. Also, the zombie thing is for me. I like weird stuff. Fantas! says: May 19, 2012 at 2:20 am These hostfuls keep getting shorter and shorter – this one wasn’t even an hour. Compound that with how (mentioned above) we rarely have all three members of the crew interviewing anyone anymore, and I have to wonder where this podcast will be in a year. Not that I’m not still a fan but it’s a bit disconcerting. Is it a seasonal thing or what? Wendy says: May 19, 2012 at 1:02 am @Chris cheers for the You Can’t Do That on Television reference! Here’s Moose from 2004 at SlimeCon… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EE7Dqxb_NZY JonBoy says: May 18, 2012 at 8:25 pm Love the hostfuls! I might have missed this, but where did that music come from at the end? amysrevenge says: May 18, 2012 at 6:26 pm Lovin’ the Hostfuls gang. 🙂 Patty Marvel says: May 18, 2012 at 5:30 pm “I always liked sperm…wait, that came out wrong. I always liked when…” @Chris – may I PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE somehow use that in a Safe Harbor recording for my college radio station?!?!? I’ll try to find an instrumental version of “Every Sperm is Sacred” for the music bed. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE?!?!?! Roger Clendening II says: May 18, 2012 at 4:57 pm Matt: Try it like this: “I Love Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeast!” Kass says: May 18, 2012 at 4:26 pm Quemment Backup: Social studies teacher should totally check out John Green’s Crash Course series on youtube for inspiration on teaching cool stuff with tech. And the Stuff You Should Know podcast did a episode that was delightful on zombie origin and history. Both very good and enjoyably consumable for all ages. I think. Well, whenever it’s alright to teach kids about death in school; those ages. (Also, John, Hank, Chuck and Josh would be delightful Nerdist guests) Melissa C says: May 18, 2012 at 2:18 pm Oh good, someone posted about Mark/Doyle. I was surprised no one on the podcast said he was on Angel. He left/was asked to leave because of his drug problem that eventually led to his death. 🙁 Frankie says: May 18, 2012 at 2:02 pm 626 represent! Love the artwork. Oh, Back to the Future’s Twin Pines/Lone Pine Mall was filmed in the 626! Jake says: May 18, 2012 at 1:54 pm God I love Hostfuls. It’s the only time they are all together on the podcast nowadays. Mary Jones says: May 18, 2012 at 1:25 pm Hey guys, thanks for the shout-out! That comic’s name you were trying to think of there……that’s Doug Stanhope. Also, Sean Rouse has just recently received new knees, so he’s doing much better these days. Love your show! Aticus says: May 18, 2012 at 12:58 pm GREAT SCOTT! I have not had the chance to lisen yet but HAD to comment on the AMAZINGLY COOL ART done for this cast. Awesome. Brodie Spears says: May 18, 2012 at 12:40 pm When is Mash up suppose to premier!?!?!? dana says: May 18, 2012 at 11:15 am LOVE the jonay ray seven inch artwork nod in the artwork… great job, emily…! Alisaj29 says: May 18, 2012 at 11:03 am Was the song, You’re A Stupid Hoe by Niki Minaj? Tara says: May 18, 2012 at 10:37 am In addition to Moose and Enzo, Glenn QUinn, the actor who played Mark on Roseanne, went on to play Doyle on Angel and died of a drug overdose in 2002. Bryan says: May 18, 2012 at 10:24 am I think the song at the end is pretty good!
