  2. John Schultz says:

Awesome interview! I’ve been a fan of Metallica since pre Black Album and I don’t know that I’ve ever heard them give a better interview than this one.

  3. Carlos Perez says:

Please get out of my mind. You are plagiarizing my thoughts.

  4. todd says:

I HATE Metallica for 100 different reasons. but I LOVED this interview and I have way more love and respect for them now..Thanks NERDIST changing hearts and minds!

  5. Chris says:

Great episode. I don’t think I’ve ever heard them give a real interview, and where else would they be able to talk about random shit like this for an hour, so this was easily my favorite one yet. Great job nerds.

  6. Jeff says:

This episode was one of those dream-come-true shows like Henry Rollins, Tom Hanks, etc.
Some people would be surprised to learn how many of these /\/|ETAL GODZ they see are actually huuuuge nerds. One of Slipknot’s first albums had lyrics based on a tabletop RPG.

\mm/ (too much metal for one hand)
Chris Hardwick = Master of Podcasts

  7. jennifer says:

Aweskme interview with them. Jonah my first concert was Metallica too at Coral Sky amphitheater in West Plam Beach fl. I was 15 and my mom took me! lol coolest mom ever. Great job guys.

  8. sam says:

Cool dudes, but Lars is a douche.

  9. Paul says:

Great podcast and Through The Never looks pretty cool. The teaser trailer sucked me in for sure.

Here is an interesting infographic about the film from NYT:

  10. Josh says:

Every time I see these guys I think of the Dandy Warhol’s Pastor of Muppets.

  11. Stacy says:

I saw Through the Never last weekend (early screening), and it was phenomenal! If you are a Metallica fan in any way, then go see the movie. It was like watching a concert with a short story peppered in between. The crowd that I was with seeing it were all obviously fans, and it made the show so much more enjoyable.

    Go with friends! :)

  12. jessie says:

This did not disappoint. They seem super down to earth and also seemed to really enjoy themselves.
    Keep it up guys! :)

  13. Ravelle says:

You’re on fire with these great episodes, Chris!

  14. @Jason: we’ll process your refund. ok done.

@ThisGuy: a word wedge is a small monitor that has lyrics scrolling on it, like a small teleprompter. when a band has a shit ton of songs, sometimes they need a little help with lyrics from some of the older stuff!

  15. ThisGuyRightHere says:

Stupid question: What’s a word wedge? I can infer based on how it’s used, but Googling and Binging did me no help in getting a more detailed definition… I’ve searched:

    word wedge
    music word wedge
    “word wedge”
    music “word wedge”
    what is a word wedge
    what is a “word wedge”
    music wordwedge

None of it has resulted in a good definition… most just end up defining the word “wedge”

  16. Crump's Brother says:

Thank you Nerdist. Been an unwavering fan of Metallica since I was a wee lad in the 80’s. Been a fan of the Nerdist podcast since #1. This episode is one of my favorite things ever.

  17. Keith says:

The girl in the Sam Kinison video is Jessica Hahn.

  18. M says:

Just another podcast with a band you’ve never heard of . . .

  19. Jacob says:

    Every guest introduction:

“I didn’t know what to expect about _____, but _______ was AMAZING!”

    jk jk jk jk jk

  20. JetpackBlues says:

    Challenge liberty
    Downed by law
    Live in infamy
    Rub you raw
    Witchhunt riding through

The tortoise balls have been boiled for you

  33. Three Toes of Fury says:
