Nerdist Podcast Live Coming To Royal Oak, MI and State College, PA – Ticket Presale Wednesday

What do Royal Oak, Michigan and State College, Pennsylvania have in common? At first blush, not a lot. One is a reasonably trendy, shopping-and-bar-filled suburb of Detroit, the other is a verdant college town in the mountains, home to Penn State and a long drive from anywhere else (Altoona doesn’t count). Oh, there IS one thing they have in common: Both will host the Nerdist Podcast Live in April, and tickets for both go on sale this week.

Yes, people of Greater Detroit and Happy Valley, Chris Hardwick and his trusted compatriots Jonah Ray and Matt Mira will be coming to your areas soon. First, they’ll be appearing on Friday, April 20th at the Royal Oak Music Theatre in, naturally enough, Royal Oak, Michigan, then, after washing down their Coneys with some Faygo, they’ll find their way through the Western Pennsylvania woods to State College for a show Saturday, April 21st at the State Theatre, and I trust they’ll find the Creamery on campus while they’re there. Tickets for both shows will be available for presale Wednesday, February 1st, and here are the relevant details:

ROYAL OAK: The show is Friday, April 20th at 7 pm. Presale starts Wednesday, February 1st at noon Eastern and ends Friday at 11:50 am Eastern. The password is nerdist. Tickets go on regular sale on Friday (2/3) at noon Eastern. You’ll find tickets by clicking here.

STATE COLLEGE: The show is Saturday, April 21st at 8 pm. Presale starts Wednesday, February 1st at noon Eastern, and ends Thursday at 10 pm. The password is, once again, nerdist. Regular ol’ ticket sales will start on Friday (2/3) at noon Eastern. And you can buy tickets by clicking here.

If you’re anywhere near Detroit (Windsor, Ann Arbor, even Toledo and Flint, I’m lookin’ at you) or State College (come on, what is it, two-and-a-half hours from Pittsburgh? Couple hours from Harrisburg? Piece of cake), come on out and enjoy an evening of standup and podcast goodness courtesy of your pals Chris, Jonah, and Matt. They’ll be happy to see you, too.

Please don’t tell me that there is an ashe requirement!!
    Is there?

  2. Kathi says:

Sounds like there’s a lot of people going to the Royal Oak show solo – glad I’m not the only one. Tried convincing my husband to go with, but he doesn’t get it. Hopefully there will be a tweet up!

  3. Breann says:

You guys are going to be in Royal Oak 3 days before my birthday, and I’m going! So excited to see the podcast live!

  4. wolff76 says:

Just got two tickets in the front row! WOOT! The Nerdist podcast has been an incredibly motivating thing for me and I’m nerding out on being able to see these incredible people in person. Now the tough question…Nerdist tee or one of my Doctor Who shirts?

  5. @wendy and @nikki It is more fun to bring someone. Maybe get them interested in the Nerdist. Worse comes to worse Nerdist fans are the best fans on the planet. Even if you are alone you can meet your fellow Nerdist.

Don’t let not having someone to go with you stop you from going. It is an event not to be missed!!!

  6. Justin says:

Yeah, so I caved and bought a ticket. 2nd row front and center! I also debated buying two but decided it won’t be too bad to sit alone. Hopefully someone organizes a meetup for us loners who have nobody to go with.

  7. Eric Cousino says:

Brian, thanks that worked fine. I got the tickets.

  8. Brian says:

For the Royal Oak link, click on “event schedule” then find the nerdist event, and then you can enter the password and go from there.

  9. Nikki says:

I agree with Wendy, I’m doing the same. I debated buying two tickets and inviting someone to tag along with me but none of my friends listen to the show (I’ve tried, I swear!) and what fun would that be for them? I would just be worried the whole time about them having fun. Why not just enjoy yourself instead? Embrace it, nerds!

  10. Eric Cousino says:

How do you do a presale purchase for Royal Oak? The link provide does not offer that option. Thank you.

  11. Wendy says:

I don’t care if it’s “socially acceptable” or not; I’m going alone cause I’d rather enjoy it than drag someone who wouldn’t!

  12. Nikki says:

thank you Justin for the heads-up about the State College tickets. Just got mine, front row! can’t wait! what’s the Happy Valley equivalent to Anna’s taqueria? I guess the Creamery….Nerdist Creamery pre-show meet-up?

  13. Gospel X says:

There’s nothing wrong with going alone. My hope is that Nerdist readers/listeners/viewers are a friendly enough bunch that a this might offer a great opportunity to meet new nerds and make new friends.

On a similar note, any Ann Arborites heading out to the show?

  14. Patrick says:

Still kicking myself for missing the DC show. Please come back soon.

  15. Patti says:

Very excited about the podcast coming to Michigan! I want to go. Hoping some of my friends will see my post on fb about the show. It would be sweet.

  16. Justin R. says:

Heads up for State College folks: Tickets are on sale NOW for the show (with the presale code “nerdist”). Don’t have to wait until noon…get them now!

  17. Venus Sanders says:

For those of you in Michigan that are concerned about not having anyone to go with, we could all go as a group! Just post on facebook, and we can make a event of it!! And, more than likely there will be a “tweet-up” event, so we could hang out there!

  18. Doc says:

Please come to St. Louis!!!! No one ever comes here comedywise, we are starving for good comedy!!!!

  19. Ravindra says:

Excited you guys are coming to Michigan! Need to find somebody to go with though…oh well, I’ll just get a couple tickets and figure out the rest later…

  20. Deej says:

OK, you’ve been to Montreal, now Toronto.

Vancouver has to be in there sometime. Really, a little side trip from Seattle is all it would take.

  21. J.Smith says:

    YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Best news I have gotten today. I saw a Kevin Smith Q&A at the Royal Oak Theater awhile back. Great place.

  22. Hunter says:

Thanks Perry, I will do that. I live about two hours away from state college and this is the closest the podcast has come to me. As a 17 yr old it would be disappointing if I couldn’t go.

  23. Sean Stayrook says:

State College here I come. A great day to visit my old school. #nerdistpsu

  24. Sean Stayrook says:

State College here I come. A great day to visit my old school.

  25. Justin says:

I’m about 30 minutes from Royal Oak and would love to go, but I don’t know anyone who listens to podcasts at all to go with. I wish going alone was socially acceptable.

  26. Graham Ashby says:

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD COME TO PURDUE!

  27. @hyperform, The Tigers cap is because they’ll be in/near Detroit. (I made it a Nationals cap for the D.C. show; coulda made this one a Penn State cap, but there was only room for one. Doesn’t change Matt’s loyalty; he’s a hopeless Sawx fan forever and probably hates me for putting him in other caps…)

@Hunter Don’t know the answer to that. All I can say is to call the venue. 814-272-0606.

  28. Bekers says:

Awesome! For a laugh, youtube; pure michigan royal oak. & since your calling out Flint, in the future, check out The Machine Shop. The concert lounge has had a lil bit of comedy.

  29. Hunter says:

Is the show in state college 18 and up?

  30. I will be cramming as much work in before the 20th of April so I have a free day just for the Nerdist boys. Three day weekend kicking off with Chris, Matt, and Jonah? I think so!

  31. hyperform says:

why is Matt Mira wearing a Detroit Tigers cap. Shouldn’t it be a Sox cap?

  32. Mike Seidl says:

Yay! April 20th, 2 miles North of my current location! Last year Chris came to Ferndale and now Royal Oak. I think he’s moving Northenly.

  33. Kathi says:

You made my week – super excited you’re coming to Michigan…then I saw the date….one of my favorite bands is going to be in town the same night – decisions decisions!
