  1. Bill says:

The Dude’s daughter invited him over to draw on her walls? Should these be called ‘The Doodles’?

  2. Bill says:

The Dude’s daughter invited him over to doodle on her walls? Should these be called ‘Dudles’? Dewdles, maybe?

  3. Solid Muldoon says:

I feel compelled to mention my favorite thing about The Big Lebowski:

The Dude’s goofy landlord shows up to pester him about the rent. The Dude kind of blows him off. Landlord invites The Dude to his interpretive dance show. Dude says, “Yeah, yeah, sure. I’ll be there.”

And he actually shows up! And brings two friends!

    What a mensch.

  4. Bradley says:

This man always seems like he just smoked the best weed ever grown on the planet. He is THE DUDE!

  5. Cassi says:

@mndrew you’re out of your element!

  6. When he asks at the end where he has seen Chris before, does that mean Jeff has been on Shipmates?! :-)

  7. Mescalineous says:

I think that’s the selfie he took when he was researching wind tunnels for the W. Kamau Bell episode.

  8. JetpackBlues says:

Fido can’t hold his breath any longer:

  9. chris hardwick says:

@josiah: you are now required to include a picture of our distinguished goldfish

  10. Patty Marvel says:

@Antonio – Honestly, every time I hear a Stamps.com ad on this and other podcasts (check out “Stuff You Missed in History Class”), I think, “Well, shoot, it’s not THAT bad. And I kinda like human contact…”

  11. JetpackBlues says:

    ๐Ÿ˜† Wienerpants….

  12. Antonio says:

Post offices in New Zealand are obviously nowhere nearly as bad as American ones! I don’t mind going there- the folks are nice and people are polite. I’m now forming opinions…

  13. Mr McGill says:

Loved this episode and when will we be seeing “Burning Bridges” on the Nerdist Channel?

  14. scott325 says:

This was great. Buscemi and Goodman need to be on the podcast too, so you can conspire to organize that Lebowski bowling challenge.

  15. Josiahiscool says:

@Chris Hardwick- I was kidding and not trying to be a hater, as I was looking back my post seemed … Off. Anyways @Mndrew- the Official Nerdist Industries Research Staff is headed by Fido the distinguished Goldfish

  16. Chris Hardwick says:

@Mndrew: wienerpants, I asked if he had done A podcast before. Not mine. I’m not THAT out of touch. :/

  17. Josiahiscool says:

    That would explain a lot

  18. Mndrew says:

Dude, seriously? You didn’t check first to see if he had done the podcast before. Time to fire your research staff. ( I assume that the Nerdist Industries Research Staff is most likely one of your pets, no?)

  19. JetpackBlues says:

@Chris: My mistake! Then hopefully he’ll come back for more just like this! ๐Ÿ˜€

  20. HempKnight757 says:

Man.. what a great get this is. I really enjoy Jeff Bridges. Ready to listen to this & veg out after a long day of sweating my but

  21. Chris says:

Unrelated, but did Matt ever end up getting to rant about what he didn’t like about the latest Star Trek movie?

  22. Patty Marvel says:

P.S. The R.I.P.D. trailer looks like fun and kinda resembles THIS old TV show: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G_vs_E

  23. Patty Marvel says:

Ah, “The Big Lebowski!” The movie that inspired my first ever White Russian. Yes, it was in a bowling alley.

Some notable quotes from the podcast I just HAD to write down…

“To be a professional, you have to do it when you don’t feel like it.” – NICE line. Something to keep in mind to stay tenacious.

“It’s not about getting rid of the stress but how you dance with it, how you play with it, laugh at it.” – Maybe put it to use somehow? Maybe use it as motivation, perhaps? Like use it as a reason to take out anxiety on an innocent rowing machine or some such thing?

@Chris Hardwick – Ain’t YOU sneaky! First you ask Jeff Bridges about the aide group he supports and then you follow that immediately with a, “Hey, I have the CHARITY bowling show where celebrities bowl for CHARITY and gee this could help your CHARITY.” Bowl, you clever boy.

  24. That was awesome. As the lat person on earth, apparently, that hasn’t seen Lebowski, I still found the podcast to be full of awesome. It has become a war of attrition for me not to give in to my friends and family and watch the movie. Now, thanks to you guys, I am watching it. That dude seemed cool as ice.

  25. Anthony says:

The Dude and his entourage in Celebrity Bowling? The interwebs would be bowled over. Another idea, the Kingpin vs The Big Lebowski in Celebrity Bowling.

  26. Magister Kappa says:

    @Mccrackelz

I’m pretty sure he meant Matt SMITH leaving Doctor Who…

Great podcast! I was impressed with how much Bridges is down with talking Lebowski; it seemed like HE brought it up more than anyone else. I’d have guessed given the cult following he’d have gotten sick of people calling him Dude, asking for quotes, etc.

  27. Mccrackelz says:

Hodup hodup hodup… Matt leaving was a joke right? RIGHT?!

    Damn.

  28. X says:

    *waistline

  29. X says:

Little did you know that the song wasn’t referring to an actual night spent in the city of Bangkok, but was just a meta reference in the song to the song itself. It should read “‘One Night in Bangkok’ makes the hard man humble.”

After a few weeks of it looping in your head 24 hours a day, permeating your dreams, buzzing in your ears, you’ll be nothing more than a blubbering lunatic, a mere shell of the tough titan you used to be. You’ll get your kicks above the waist, sunshine.

  30. dana says:

    great artwork, jenny…!!

  31. JMac says:

Not relevant to this particular podcast, but “One Night in Bangkok” is *still* stuck in my head…so…uh…thanks for that…

  32. chris hardwick says:

@Jetpack: It wasn’t a junket. RIPD was our way in to get him, but that was only about 4 of the 50 min of convo. So if we did it again, it’d probably be just like this!

  33. Three Toes of Fury says:

    .
    The Nerdist Abides.

Chis…outstanding job and great “get”. Bridges is an amazing actor with a WONDERFULLY diverse background. I was worried early in the interview when the talk of Tron got diverted to R.I.P.D a few times..i understand the promotional aspect of guest appearances like this but the retro geek in me wants to hear about “the classics” (“It felt like Flynn”). Anyhoo, im pleased as punch to say that the intervew was wonderfully organic and you guys covered alot of great ground and stories about Bridges life. I love that you touched on his music and incredible charity work as well. Well done dude (and well done The Dude!), loved it.

Peace & I’ve got a little challenge for you Sark – a new recruit. He’s a tough case, but I want him treated in the usual manner. Train him for the games… let him hope for a while… and blow him away.

    3ToF…end of line.

  34. CafComics says:

Fine Job, Chris. His rumbling tones relaxed my bones and what a huge pile of story and wisdom for one person to have such access to inside their own brain.

PS: If I donโ€™t enjoy my burrito now (for whatever reason)โ€ฆ will Jeff Bridges kill me?

    #totallyshitmypants

  35. JetpackBlues says:

“Like the man says, there’s no problems, only solutions.”

The Lebowski vs. Nerdist A-SCB will indeed break the internet. Hope he wears the sweater AND TRON helmet.

Would be great to have him come back again when not part of a press junket.

  36. Josh says:

This looks crazy Awesome. Thanks Chris. This guy did so many of my favorite movies, Last Picture Show, Lebowski, The Contender, Seabuscuit, the Fabulous Baker Boys. I just hope you asked him what it was like to have Michelle Pfiefer laying on a piano in front of him.
