  1. Maria @LaughtAndLived says:

Hahahahahaha!! This pod was sooooo fucking funny.

  2. Adventureless_Hero says:

Loved this episode! Kirkman sounded like a jerky Charlie Day to me, but it was all fun.

Did anyone notice that Chris Hardwick started calling Izzy by the name of Mimi? She was the fan/artist who drew the Sasquatch/Kirkman illustration. Pretty sure her name was Izzy, not Mimi.

  3. Beardy McNoShave says:

OMG! Chris Hardwick Rowlf impression FOR THE WIN!

  4. Brian Furio says:

LOL! check out this facebook after you listen to this podcast. and read all the posts changing the intent of sasquatching

  5. Perry Michael Simon says:

And here is the key to seeing all of the Sasquatching photos, from Chris’ own tweet just minutes ago:

“Sasquatching Kirkman pics!!! I’ve buried the link on my @reddit AMA page. Find it w/o using cmd-f and be rewarded!”

    So go.

  6. HappaHaoli says:

Damon just tweeted the elusive Sasquatchin’ pic…

  7. Ian says:

Soo wicked epic! One of the best!

  8. Wes says:

All this talk of sas-a-frass handing out love tugs and the artists that love him made me pop up and ask for an artist of my very own. I’ll take Kirkman’s advice and use lies and deceit! Mwa ha ha ha. But seriously I need an artist.

  9. Sylvain says:

Where can we see the sasquatch drawing?

  10. povzero says:

Great podcast. Kirkman was very entertaining! I’ve listened three times. I don’t really see how people thought he was abrasive or “dickish”, I thought he was very obviously tongue-in-cheek about it. If you missed out on that maybe you should have listened closer.

  11. Monsterbait says:

Hey guys awesome job on this episode, it was one of your tippy top-est episodes ever. I love the way you guys interact in general but this particular one was great! Your Child Kirkman and the Sasquatching was just amazing! I love how it turned into wrong turn at every corner and that it went from Yetis to Predator all Sasquatching! I was really looking forward to seeing the drawings though. On top of that it’s really too bad the artists on the show didn’t even leave their deviant art info.
    Please post Sasquatch pics 😀
All in all great job and also Congrats on the TV show I am so excited for that!

  12. Keith says:

    See above!!!!!!!

  14. John says:

I have never laughed so hard at a podcast in my life. The live aspect of the show really kicks it up a notch. Holy Jebus. Matt wins player of the game.

  15. Bilirubin says:

You know, I believe you (and want to believe you as well) that Kirkman is actually a nice guy.

But that doesn’t mean that he successfully pulled off the schtick he was going for. I would rather he answered like the nice guy you say he is and left the comedy to the professionals.

  16. Grover Cleveland says:

  17. MattApodaca says:

To those criticizing Robert Kirkman’s “dickishness”, let me tell you that it was all for show. He was joking, which I thought was pretty clear. I was at the live show and had the chance to chat with him a bit after and he could not have been nicer! He was very appreciative toward all the fans there, took the time to sign everything and take pictures. He’s an all around awesome dude.

Great podcast and this episode is near and dear to my heart now. Hilarious!

  18. Bilirubin says:

Kirkman’s “I’m just joking” was the thing an asshole says as he’s being an asshole. Steve Martin, Bill Murray, Zach Galifianakis… these are professional comedians who make a living playing jerks while doing it in a way that lets you know not to take them seriously.

Kirkman came off as a wanna-be comedian that was pushing too hard for the laugh, while not being generous with anyone else on the show (including Lindelof).

It actually came off as insecure more than anything else.

And I have read the entire series. It’s okay. But it’s no “Y: The Last Man”.

  19. steve8282 says:

Kirkman was joking ( and Hilarious) You see I could tell at that part where he said ” you know i’m Joking right” and all three hosts and Lindlehoff said variations on yeah us too. And too the folk who are criticizing the show without having read the books. It s better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

  20. Mike says:

Love the podcast but kirkman was a bit of a dick. Completely full of himself and disrespectful. Anyways keep up the good work.

  21. Where are the winning Sasquatch drawings?

  22. SlimCharles says:

Good podcast. Probably not my favorite, but still awesome. Kirman is a funny dude.
However, I have to bitch a little. Walking Dead [TV show] is one of the most disappointing things on television. So much hype, and except the pilot – total disappointment. It’s true that I’m not really a zombie fan, I was looking forward to the show primarily because I thought Mad Man, Breaking Bad and Rubicon are awesome shows, but this was just not nowhere near the level of said AMC shows. Same applies to The Killing, another big disappointment.

  23. todd says:

I would love to view the perverted renderings referenced in the podcast.

  24. todd says:

I NEED to see the drawings!

  25. Graham says:

Great interview big C! I work at Telltale Games and we’re currently putting together the videogame version of Walking Dead. Handed it around the office and had a great time listening myself. Thanks!

  26. Mark T. Manning says:

    Chris’ impression:

    Terrible Morgan Freeman

    Excellent RAPEY Foghorn Leghorn

  27. The Enri says:

I think The Walking Dead is maybe the best comic I’ve ever read. It’s so shocking and intense it keeps you anticipating the next issue with its WTF endings. The show however is meh… not really happy with all the character and story changes. Its like they took out all the cool shit. I really wish it was an HBO series so we didn’t get this watered down version. Hopefully with Kirkman more involved the second season will put it back on track. The Podcast was hilarious.. I don’t think Kirkman was being a dick. Maybe I can google the sasquatch pics.

  28. Three Toes of Fury says:

I agree that it was, as always, a great podcast. However i was downright dissapointed in the guest. Jonah’s comments nailed it…(paraphrase)… “you know how you realllly like a band but then meet one of the members and find out they are an @ss?”. I found Kirkman to be abrassive and completely unappreciative of his entire core audience. I dont think this was a “bit”. He called himself out several times that he was a bad guy and i agree. Everyone, including myself, was looking forward to zombie banter between he and jonah, which we eventually got thanks to the Q/A, however earlier in the cast he totally tore into Jonah when he attempted to start the dialog. Great job Matt/Jonah/Chris in turning out a great interview with such a negative individual.

  29. Jeff says:

Best episode so far! i don’t know how you guys manage to top yourselves so consistently but please keep em coming

  30. Jcar says:

Anyhow, nerdy bitching about “Walking Dead” aside, I will say that this episode of “The Nerdist” was an incredibly entertaining one (one of the best live shows, in fact) and that Kirkman makes a really amusing guest (even if his TV show sucks).

  31. Jcar says:

It’s supposed to be “Jcar” actually, I misspelled my own internet alias!

Anyhow, these comment sections are the antithesis of “nerdy” in that they tend to be circle jerks in which everyone declares how great everyone and everything is. If this website is to live up to its moniker we really should be using these comment sections to debate important topics like whether or not the Walking Dead sucks (and, obviously, it sucks hard).

If you want a concrete example of the truly awful dialogue I was talking about, just watch the beginning of Episode 4–the scene between the sisters in the boat. It’s the most laughably awful, and entirely on the nose, attempt at sisterly bonding/characterization this side of a Halmark movie. Plus, given that the show paid no attention to either of those characters up to that point, it’s also a big blinking sign that says “ONE OF THESE CHARACTERS WILL DIE BEFORE THE END OF THIS EPISODE!”

Given Darabant’s past (Green Mile was one of the most awful pieces of minstrel show shit to be released in the past 15 years) I’d be willing to blame him for how terrible/2 dimensional/maudlin the TV series is, but I’m pretty sure that episode 4 is the episode that Kirkman wrote, so if the guy writes dialogue this awful, it doesn’t bode well for the quality of his comics (I was hoping this is what the dude who asked about the dialogue in the TV show was getting at, and it might have been what he was getting at, but they never gave him the chance to elaborate).

Anyhow, like I said the pilot was really good, but much like the Killing, the show took an incredibly steep nose dive after that. However, I still think they could produce an awesome season 2 if they just get better writers (which might include not letting Kirkman write any individual script in its entirety if he sucks at dialogue).

  32. Bestopheles says:

Also: Way to be a downer Jcat, way to be a downer.

  33. JCat says:

Am I the only zombie fan who hates Walking Dead?

The pilot was brilliant, mostly just because no one talked, but once episode 2 started and the characters opened their mouths they all started spewing some of the most cliched, hackneyed, dialogue on TV. It seems more like a made for TNT show than an AMC quality show. Plus all the characters are basically two dimensions and the acting is, for the most part, pretty awful so I watched all 6 episodes and couldn’t get myself to care about basically anyone.

Plus, what was up with that bizarre and pointless Latino Gang interlude mid season? It was like the show suddenly turned into an afterschool special to educate us on the perils of stereotyping.

I’ve never read the comic, so maybe it’s brilliant, but judging strictly from the quality of the show I don’t think this Kirkman guy has the justification to act like such a dick as the show really isn’t that good. That said, I do think it has potential, but they’ll need way better writers to pull it off.

  34. Bestopheles says:

My favorite episode so far. Also: Post PICS!

  35. hookloop says:

    illustration please!

  36. Rocky Springer says:

Where are the Sasquatching pictures? Funniest podcast ever.

  37. gladly says:

I know, intellectually, that hosting something or moderating is an actual skill, but most of the time Chris, Jonah, and Matt have a pretty seamless rapport with the guest. I just forget that it is an actual talent to guide these podcasts.

It was pretty awesome listening to the Nerdist guys, Chris in particular, figure out how to coax Kirkman into a discussion. I don’t really know why Kirkman opted for his prickly shtick, but the Nerdist panel totally retained their composure and that was awesome. I know I would have been flustered beyond words.

The next time I have a terrible job interview (which isn’t even in front of a 100 people) I’m going to try to channel that kind of composure.

Totally great show, and I second the comment that the audio was excellent on this one. It made hearing “Future Damon’s” answer to “Did you have an end in mind?” that much better.

  38. Daniel says:

    Where are the drawings?

  39. Will says:

Robert Kirkman is a beautiful man. He can Sasquatch me anytime.

  40. Zak R. says:

Clearly, live podcasts in front of groups of nerds are effing awesome! Great job. Hilarious. Way too much funny. All the funnies.

  41. James says:

Really have to stop listening to this in the car. Almost drove off the road a few times from laughing. Keep up the great shows!

  42. Adam Myers says:

Guys, that Podcast was AWESOME with a side order of YEAH, BABY!! Can’t wait for the next Podcast.

P.S. Where are the drawings? Now I am really curious.

  43. Peter says:

Matt crushed it on this one

  44. Travis says:

Matt Mira was the MVP on this. Man was on fucking fire.

  45. Stephanie Less says:

I laughed out loud for realz.

Pics of sasquatch or it didn’t happen!

  46. Sarah says:

I want to see the Sasquatch drawings.

  47. Clay says:

This episode was awesome along with all guest-ful and host-ful eps! thank you so much! You guys are awesome!
